HELP! Master Bedroom Window Treatments

Please help! Which type of window treatments should I use on the master bedroom windows ? There are five (5) windows with lake views. Looking for treatments that will not block the views when raised/open but also provide complete privacy when closed.

Depending on how you've decorated the room you could do black out Relaxed Roman shades....When up they are very pretty, when down they block out everything. Otherwise, if your decor can take the look you might try solar shades. They have many different opacities.

Thanks for the helpful replies! Starnold, thanks for your lovely compliment, and I like the idea of a small chest next to the chair-I hadn't thought of that! I've been looking at rods, and I'm thinking of a bronze color to match the rest of the hardware in the house. I'd like find some back-tab linen drapes--I like the simple classic look and they always seem to hang nicely. Tibbrix-I like your idea on the placement/width, that's close to what I was thinking. My only concern with the look of the full length draperies is the top of the window being uncovered--for some reason that bothers me! To me, it looks a little naked and unfinished. So, here's my second question: I've considered a simple matching upholstered cornice board to cover the top of the window frame, with the drapes hung behind it. With this set up I wouldn't need a decorative rod, and could use simple clip on rings on a hidden rod. Is a cornice board too dated? Thanks again--I'm hoping to get your opinions on the upholstered cornice. Diana

This is pretty much the furniture layout, due to doorway one wall with bathroom door same wall on other end. Closet door on another. I tried moving the furniture around including angling bed in corner. I once had the bed on the wall to left of bed, but that has one window as well & it looked more awkward there with no room for side tables. I would consider painting the furniture, eventually, but that is a big job with so much more else to be done. I can live with it for now. Just need suggestions for the curtains.

pottery barn sells silk dupioni drapes with black out liner option. or they used to. i've had mine for 7 years now and look great. i'd do 4 panels, on rings, and buy a curtain tender. i think a wall of silver, floor to ceiling, at night would look just fine. better than 3 rectangles in a row.

Cobalt blue is a gorgeous color but the walls +the gray headboard + the tan matchstick shades + multiple shades of blue doesnt equal a cohesive sum. Since the wall paint is fresh and pretty and since you like the grey headboard, consider sticking with fewer colors repeated in more elements and then add just one shade of blue as your proverbial pop? The photos that deco added are so pretty partly because they stick closely to plan.

thank you! either one, just depending on look ( def. not a pattern person, maybe a solid with trim accent) max price would be $150.00 per window

Cellular blinds would work nicely with your windows. And they stack to a mere 2"-3".

I agree cellular window shades would work well here. Add stationary panels if you have extra budget leftover. Classic white or off white to match your window trim.

We have a master with a lake view and although it might be a bit more than your budget, we have a blackout cellular cordless shade with motorized lift. It goes across a window similar in span to the three panes on the left side of your photo. It has a remote control and it is a fun thing for us to press a button to behold the morning view from the bed before getting up. We have non-motorized cellular shades on our smaller windows.

Motorized blinds - replace batteries in head rail - or have outlets installed for the transformers for the blinds (bad idea).

Keep it simple.
