I need a microwave oven to fit an 18 inch deep cabinet. The developer has installed a low end GE microwave but it is too small for the opening. Lots of room on top and sides (opening is 23" wide by 14" high) but cabinet is only 18" deep. Looking for a unit that would fit, probably with a trim kit to make it look very finished. Many units are available seem to be about 19 inches deep. Will those work with a trim kit or should I be looking for a unit that is less than 18 inches? I keep hearing good things about Panasonic...my other appliances are all SS GE Profile. Except for the GE space saver, their units are too big. I want something with nice features but doesn't need to be very large. Comments, pics or advice is appreciated.

Thanks to Breezygirl and Sochi. Yes, moving the cabinet next to fridge is better then current location. Cooking book is also a good suggestion, we don't have any cooking book at this moment :-) No pipes needed for the Sharp streamwave oven, it's steam, microwave oven and grill 3 in 1. @j_bird @oppsie @jgopp @kashmi @Annie Deighnaugh @desertsteph i know this is an old post but for those that went from a single microwave/oven combo to a separate microwave and oven, how did you manage with the wiring? i know the oven/microwave combo was probably hardwired with 220V with no other electrical outlets back there (at least that's how mine is). did you run a new line from a nearby existing electrical outlet to create a new electrical outlet to plug in your new countertop microwave?

I have a Miele dishwasher, KA induction stove, Zephyr hood, Frigidaire fridge, and GE Monogram oven. I think its not as much about the matching as it is about the "look" you are going for. If all your cabinet finishes and design match, and there is no variation in height, depth or counter material then your appliances may stick out more. My kitchen is fairly mixed in design with an overall "feel", so the different appliances look good so far, project is not yet done so jury is still out.
