"Ancient" - by the standard of North America - stone wall in the New England garden of a prominent collector and hybridizer of Ericaceae, that I had the honor and pleasure of visiting last year. These are common in New England and eastern Canada, but uncommon elsewhere.

These are two of the many stone walls at our place in Pike County, PA. The settlers who tried farming in this area finally gave up and the woods have re-claimed the land.
