Mitered edge or Schluter Edge: What's better for a shower window sill
Comments (7)I wonder if I carve a little channel into the grout joint where it meets the wall if that will help somewhat? Where I have the red line marked. Maybe even raking away the grout build up there. The shower below is my own and me and my four girls all use this one shower. The grout takes a beating from cleaning but the shower niches do not hold water. In the large niche with the light I purchased a larger tile to ensure that the niche bottom was in one piece of tile. This is key I think for any shower sill or niche. If you are going to have grout lines less is more...See MoreQuartz countertops - seam and corner joint/is it fixable?

Comments (8)I’m sorry, you are misinformed. The longest length that laminate comes in is 12’, and then only for a very few colors. Many only come in 10’ sections. The factory that vacuum presses the laminate onto the particle board substrate and does the formed edges also is the one that cuts them at the angle. They are shipped to the distributor already angle cut, and then picked up by the local fabricator and cut to size, cutouts done, and finishing touches added. Then joined on site. Just go to any box store. You’ll see what I’m talking about. Those factory cut edges can often get a bit banged up. But if it is not visible, and the cut edges are protected by the caulk in between the pieces, it’s not a issue. A bit of seam roughness is normal. It’s not Corian. If the caulk was not used between the pieces when site assembled, then you have an issue. That is what seals the seam from moisture damage. https://www.lowes.com/pd/VT-Dimensions-Wilsonart-10-ft-4588-60-Kalahari-Topaz-Matte-Miter-Cut-Laminate-Kitchen-Countertop/50240973...See MoreGap too big when the mitered edges of the fireplace were made on site
