Comedy of errors...but not funny

I was scheduled for a core breast biopsy today because of a questionable area seen during a mammo. Of course I have been a nervous wreck. After getting registered and getting into my lovely gown the nurse comes to check on me and asks my name, birthdate etc and then says now this is the right breast we're doing. Umm no, its the left. Well radiologist report says right. No, I say, its the left although now Im beginning to question myself. Ok, so they will recheck the film while I wait. Ok, their mistake. The radiologist report said right. Ok, so then the doc comes in and well, he thinks that I dont need a biopsy. He will talk to my doctor but thinks I should go to the breast clinic because he thinks i need an excision and why do a biopsy if they are going to do an excision. At that point there is no way they were touching me today. I had a biopsy in the same area in 2013 which was negative. I was told by my doctor at that time that all was good. According to the doctor today the report that they sent to my oncologist suggested an excision. I had been released from the oncologists care two years prior (he had been my oncologist when I had colon cancer in 2011)

Thanks for letting me vent. My stomach is still a mess from being so nervous and upset. Now I'll wait and talk to my primary care doc.

OMG! I just wanted to say how sorry I am that this happened to you! You must be a very mature person to handle this so well.....best of luck with the (eventual) surgery, will be praying for you.

Good lord! So sorry for your awful day. I hope you will sit back before making any further plans. Do you have an internist -- or any other MD -- you like and trust? Sounds like it's time to review what you really need before going forward.

That is the fish from Nemo (only have seen that a few hundred times). LOL! Thanks for the laugh - we are on week 2 of the flu so I could use one. I am so tired of dealing with it...if only they could have caught it at the same time instead of a week apart, #@!&!!! I should count my blessings though, dh and I haven't come down with it yet!

Hey thanks Guys!!! I never thought of the profanity angle! Jay doesn't seem like the type to use it...to me anyway?! I'm really looking forward to it! I hope he brings lots of video of his "garage"...;-) Yeah...I'm DAMN lucky I got to see AC/DC back on Feb. 11th!!!! It was their 3rd time here in little-ol'-Fargo @ the Fargodome. I"ll have to take care of my AC/DC Fargo t-shirt!! $45 for a 2X! Right now though, I'm wearing my Black-Sabbath "The End 2016" tee. Did a quick blast to Mpls. Target Center on Jan. 25th to see Ozzy, Tony, & Geezer!!! Van-Halen was a similar thing in 2012! Not long after their Xcel-Center concert in St. Paul, didn't they start arguing again, & cancel some of that tour?! DW & I went to that one. Too bad the good-stuff can't last longer!!!! Siiiigggghhhhh..... Faron

How awful, not funny at all. Such things shouldn't happen. Get another doctor, go to a different provider, if you can.

What a frustrating experience, satine - sad to hear of your upsetting experience.

Do you know anyone who's had a similar or related problem? Maybe call her to find how things went and to find how satisfied she was with the skills of her practitioners.

I think that I'd want a second opinion.

I can understand why you are feeling a mess. This would be unacceptable. You were right to do exactly what you did and call a halt to everything and re-group. Not funny at all. I would start over with someone new, even if it means a new mammogram and everything, along with the new doc.

To horrible for words. You dont need this in your life. Is there some other clinic you can go to? At the very least get your doctor involved.

You have every right to be upset. They would get a vote of no confidence from me too. I hope they don't expect you to pay them for that.

So sorry this happened to you! It seems that something so concerning should be treated with a little bit more thoughtfulness on the part of the doctors etc. I hope you end up in a better situation with better doctors now.

I'm so sorry. Medical decisions and procedures are hard enough without them getting things all mixed up. Definitely time to regroup and get fresh eyes on the matter.

I'll share with you one of the things my meditation teacher always said: So long as you are breathing, more is right than is wrong. I've found it helpful in times of difficulty. Do try to sit quietly with some slow deep breaths as that will help quell some anxiety and settle your tum. Sending you thoughts of comfort.

Oh my what an experience you had there. I agree - good call to not continue anything that day.

Hopefully it will all be calmer, more focused, and less confusing going forward.

That's more than excitement than you need. Sounds like you handled it well.

Wishing you all good from here.

Not really resolved yet. I got a call from my primary care today and she told me she had talked to the dr. from the imaging dept. He suggested, and she concurred, that I make an appointment at the breast center so that is what Ill do. I am going to be away for a week starting on Sunday and would like to just put it out of my mind until I come home but my doc suggested I at least call and get an appointment set up. I will do that tomorrow. I am hoping I can just think positively and enjoy my time away.
