You could note the Apple generated password for that website and then use it the next time you log in from your Windows pc. It should be a one time event as your pc will remember it going forward.

I think some people go needlessly overboard out of fear concerning privacy or a need for protection that may not be a true need. It's happened to me a number of times, when visiting a friend and asking for their Wifi password, they say "wait, I need to get it" and then they produce a 15 character long string of numbers, large and small letters, and special characters, that are impossible to enter correctly the first time. When I suggest "Why not change that to 'See Spot Run' ?", the response is often an odd look.

I personally prefer easily remembered passwords and avoid any that look like a top secret encrypted message from the NSA. I keep them in a file that's shared among devices and always available (though I often use the same one repeatedly, some sites want a special character and some don't).

Unauthorized access to a financial account is no different than someone making a phony credit card with your name and number or printing up phony checks with your account and bank numbers and writing checks. Unauthorized is unauthorized, it's the bank's loss, not the customer's. Yes, I know, identity theft can cause inconvenience. I'll continue to take what I think are musicale risks and continue with "See Spot Run". It's a lot more convenient.

If you change an account password you won't be able to log in to that account from any other device using another password. It doesn't matter what device or operating system you use to change it or what device or operating system you use to access it. It's not specific to the machine you are using, it's specific to the account, and accounts only allow one password to be used.

Kudzu, that's exactly why I asked. It happened to me with two sites and I stopped doing it. Frankly, when I go to log into a site, such as my bank, gmail, etc. I keep having an Apple notice to let me know my password is weak and I should let them put in a strong password.

Made the mistake of doing so and realized I had no idea what the password was. Frankly, it was a long string of characters and numbers which I didn't write down because I was outside and not at home. I had to then find a way (wasn't easy) to delete the phone password to be able to access my accounts on my computer.

I really didn't give it alot of thought at the time and realized I couldn't use one password on my phone and my old password on my computer.

I suppose if I had a Apple computer it would carry over from the phone to the Apple machine. I do not intend to buy a Mac . So, thank you all for confirming what I thought...when I thought about it!

Elmer, I do the same. I keep an index file (Rolodex type) in a drawer near my computer. However, I realize I've been using the same passwords (slightly changed when websites require more characters or #'s) on most of the places I visit. I would like stronger passwords but would never memorize the Apple type passwords to memory.

I wish passwords would go the way of the dinosaur and use retina or something similar that doesn't require us older folks to remember all these passwords.

Little difficult to do when using your laptop in a bank when you need to get a website up quickly. Certainly not something I could memorize.

Even at home, its a pain to look on the phone for these passwords to enter on websites you are working on.

I would use it if it transferred from my phone to my computer. Passwords seem so outdated and interfere with access when you have so many different, difficult passwords necessary to enter websites. I truly wish they would simplify process that allows safe passage.

People don't typically remember and type in passwords like that. They use a password manager to store them.

I'll just stop letting Apple change my passwords.
