You need to have a picture from further back, so we can see the entire island in relation to the size of the light.

Right now, it appears the lights are too large for the ceiling height, and the size of the island

What are the island dimensions, the pendant specs, ceiling height ...............and the first one just looks a bit cheap ( sorry!!! ) , no matter the size of pendant OR island.

I have the bottom one and really like it but I agree, looks a little large from your pics. If you go with that light, go with the medium, not the large. But until info @JAN MOYER suggested is known, hard to be sure.

@Jan Moyer is right. Please post the dimensions of the island, ceiling height and overall room. There is a formula so the proportions are correct. Your two choices may be too big.

I have 2 x Hinkley ones over my 9’x4’ island. They are the 15.5” size ones.

I also like the second one. The first, I think, will end up looking very heavy whereas the second will keep your kitchen more open looking. Good luck.

Maybe no pendant light. How tall are the people in the household? would it impede vision? fortunately my contractor (@ 6’7”) brought this to my attention, because I have tall spouse and children. recessed light over island, close to the ceiling light over dining table.

I will comment on the color of the metal portion of those fixtures. Think I would like them better if they matched your cabinetry hardware.

This height is no where near the second pic height. And in the second pic, those lights are hung further up from the countertop.

With this ceiling height, no way this light works. it's too big. doesn't matter how large the island is. the ceiling is too low

I don’t think the brass coordinates with the rest of your kitchen at all. And both look too big

They’re both lovely. I think I like the second one, being that it’s just a lighter airier look

If you decide to go with something closer to the ceiling, saw this in a Houzz article today. But I think you should check out the smaller version of the second one.

look at the guides. and the pics.

there is a sizing guide. i think anything over 12-13" in diameter is too large for your island size. and you don't want anything too tall (like that hinkley is 14.5" tall!) You have to be between 30-36" above the countertop. now add in the height of your pendant. the space left over is from the light to the ceiling. You don't want a 1 foot length of cord/chain on a huge pendant! it's going to look weird.

go smaller. the one pictured is mine (very top comment) and is 12x12 I believe.
