Do you have upholstery you need to worry about, or are you starting from scratch and getting new? Nomadic Desert is one of those warm neutrals that will go with any color, and IMO, it doesn't make any difference if it's warm or cool. My sister recently painted her family room a color close to the ND, and did an accent wall in a rust color~ it looks great, and very cozy.

So we went with the Maison Blanche/Sea Salt combo, and it looks fantastic! I will try to post pics. tomorrow. I have to say that as much as I absolutely love how these two colors turned out, they look almost nothing like the poster board samples I painted and held up all over the place! The Maison Blanche was lighter than I expected, which turned out to be a good thing and really helps to lighten the room. I had read what a chameleon color Sea Salt can be but was still surprised to find that it reads much more blue than my samples, which read green. Paint colors can be crazy! Initially, I wanted to paint the entire area in Sea Salt. After much consideration, hubs and I feared that it wouldn't be neutral enough for us because there is so much white trim in the whole area to make the color pop. And...he and I are not very daring. This is the first time in 20 years of marriage that we've had any paint color in our family room other than grey or beige. ;) We actually ended up doing the family room accent fireplace wall in Sea Salt as well as the area around the white kitchen cabinets (which is at the opposite end of the entire area.) I was nervous that it would break things up too much, but it really turned out beautifully. I bet your downstairs looks amazing. Maybe next time I can be braver!

I would go for a regular white for the door. Exterior doors aren't usually a highlighted feature. Plus, it will make it easy to change out decor later on if you ever tire of the blues. Just use the same color for the door as the trim in the room.

Hi Elizabeth, what a lovely room! Great open flow and lightening. Such drama with the high ceilings and windows. Your waterfall counter top is stupendous. As for paint colors - I still think mink is the better choice. I looked at the photos spisland posted of her rooms in that color and liked them. I think it will look even better in your room with all that natural light, The gold/ivory upholstery on your new furniture and the woods of the media unit and lamp tables should work well with that color as well. But you never really know until you get it in the room. That is a big, high wall. Not the easiest to repaint if you decide you don't like it. So I would definitely paint the other walls first and then buy a sample of the the mink and/or tricorn and put it on the wall. You mentioned that your husband is the one who wants to get the room painted now, rather than waiting until the furniture is in place. Is your husband the one who will be painting? Is he willing to redo it if you don't like it? Or are you both okay with paying to have a professional redo it? I recently did a bathroom and tried and rejected 2 samples, before settling on the color we did pick. I'm glad I went through that process and it was a much smaller wall.
