Chiming in from the west coast, IE seems to be my best so far. It is healthy and produces well, tastes great. I can't say that for my lavender, which took a long time to bear, tastes OK, small berries, but is having a disease problem on the trunk that is threatening to girdle it. Oscar that has been in the ground about 3 years also has a disease problem and had a large portion of the top die as well as having dieback on the trunk. So far it starts to make fruit then they don't develope so have never tasted it. Noir de Spain and its replacement both died over winter. Black Beauty is grafted very high, at 6 feet, which is very inconvenient, it was all Burnt Ridge had at the farmer's market. It has trouble getting the sap up to the branches in spring so has a lot of dieback. The "flavor" that I've seen raved about is mostly due to its being highly acidic. I ate a berry once with my head tilted back and the acid was burning my throat. So... I'll vote for IE, though I have the weeping mulberry and while the berries are small, it has a nice flavor, is very early, and the weeping habit hides the berries from the birds.:-P It is really cute, too. I got the variegated Paper Dolls, which has partly reverted to green and is still very small, like under 12" tall, it's 3rd year. If it ever amounts to anything I will report. A poor "second" of Wellington I bought didn't make it, so I didn't get to try it. When I was a kid in Houston, there was a great white mulberry that was very large, sweet, and juicy, but I don't know what variety it was. I would go for it if I could. Silk Hope and Pakistan sound great, but I would like to hear of their growing well locally.

My thoughts as well. Have you kept it indoors then outside for a Spring break? That'll cook them in minutes. BTW, I think it's an Anthurium.

Hi Jerry! I have known Toni for a long time and the funny thing is, after talking to her all this time, it never occured to me to use the stuff..lol. I will tell you though, Toni has helped me many times over since I have joined here. She is a gem to these forums!! The sick plant I am refering to is a Corky plant..It is a rare tropical that I have only had a short while...I transplanted it a few weeks ago, and it hasn't done well ever since...I thought it was the bare rooting process that I had done to it.But No.. Toni told me that this particular plant is a spidermite magnet! Yes..Everyone on these forums knows me as the paranoid pest member..lol I have been bug free this far...But it NEVER occured to me to examine this one...Gues what? It was LOADED with mites..ARGGGG!!! So I treated it tonight and had to seperate it from all my other plants, including my citrus..I pray to GOD that just one day in my plant room, it didn't infect the others.. Now I won't know if the ST works, since I have no other sick plants..But I am getting some anyway, to keep it on hand just in case..Some swear by this stuff, and others not. Guess I will have to see for myself when in need. I wonder if this stuff is good for just an additive with fertilizers..? Hum.. How are your citrus doing? have you a favorite yet?. Take care... I think you're right, it probably dried out instead of burnt. ===>>> we are getting you there.. but it did burn.. but not from sun.. from root drying .. conifers are trees.. and they need a very specific potting media... when you repot.. you will probably be better off with a cactus media.. rather than a high peat mix which is usually sold for houseplants ... perhasp a new post on that theme when you get to that point.. and timing might be important .... what do the rest of you say about that ???? .. taxo.. they clearly said they were apartment bound with not even a balcony .. they have no outdoor options.. though you are correct that would be best ... please. please.. PLEASE ... transfer your memories to the pot ... trees are NOT HOUSEPLANTS [check out the link] ... sooner or later.. it is going to fail ... but you can always have the pot ... when you repot ... plant a true houseplant in the smaller pot.. and keep the memories alive in that .... and then .. if the repotting fails.. or time just catches up with your apartment tree .... grandma can still be with you ... that is the simplest solution to your conundrum ... good luck ken Here is a link that might be useful: link
