Dining room update
Comments (26)Kerry, It was almost a year long adventure with EA. I ordered the table in white as you see which took 3 months to get, but the finish/varnish had a flaw. EA replaced the top which took more than 3 months and that one came with hairline cracks throughout the top. It looked like a crackle finish. After waiting more than 6 months for something which was paid in full that still wasn’t right, I opted to choose a different finish, one that wasn’t custom and I figured they had done before. I ordered the earl grey and I love it though it was another 3 plus months before it came. I’ve been happy thus far. We use placemats and are all adults here or I use the custom table pads and a table cloth with larger groups. I almost went with the rustic version but the color didn’t work for us. For daily use with kids I think that would be better. The Corin EA table is also beautiful in the rustic finishes and might be easier to get chairs around with young ones. The thick pedestal on this table makes chair placement challenging sometimes. Canadel also makes a beautiful and durable product if you haven’t looked at their options! Comments (1)Repainting is a great way to save money. If you're up for the challenge, that's wonderful! Here are some thoughts to consider: If you're thinking about putting a rug in the dining room, I would decide on that first. It could drive other color choices. I think white for the table would be a good contrast with the floor. Personally, I would paint the upper walls next after the table. The chair rail and moldings below would feel more updated if the whole wall is white. If you were to redo the whole wall (along with moldings and chair rail) in a different color --gray, taupe, or tobacco maybe?-- that could be another step forward. Since your table will be white, a different wall color would set it off as well. After those changes, and possibly drapes with a pattern (buffalo plaid?), then I would reevaluate whether you want to paint the other dining room pieces. Hopefully that helps! (I've got more ideas over on YouTube, if you want to check them out.)...See MoreIdeas for Kitchen and Dining Room Updates
Comments (0)We just closed on our home and will be (hopefully) completing all updates before we move in. The kitchen is spacious with a large island, but needs a facelift. I'm thinking SS appliances, pendant lights over the island, painting the island SW Pewter Green, leaving the cabinets white. Quartz countertops and maybe a butcherblock top for the island? It needs a backsplash, but I'm torn on where to end it because that wall goes into the opening of the sunroom. I love the wood fireplace and built-ins in the dining room. I would like to make the fireplace wall a focal point somehow. Have thought about board and batten on the back wall, but not sure how that would line up with the built-ins. Do I whitewash the brick or leave as-is? I definitely want to lighten up the walls. Looking for any and all suggestions. Thanks!...See Morelee6336
