How do you connect tubing?
Comments (11)Hi again Hawkiefriend, I am looking at your parts and pieces in the pics. The valve you have shown is called a knife valve. It looks to be made out of ABS. There are two types of plastic plumbing. ABS is black, and PVC which is white. To connect black to white such as the valve to the white fitting shown you would use All purpose Glue/Cement from the plumbing dept. White (PVC) to White requires purple primer applied to the pipes being glued then PVC cement. See the white piece there? The larger end will fit a PVC pipe in to it that you need to glue. Now behind that valve I see Barb fittings. These are made for the tubing to connect to. The non kink tubing just fits over it snugly. You have two different types of plumbing going on. You have the barb fittings which connect non kink tubing, and the hard plastic PVC and ABS fittings. The non kink tubing is used above ground, and the ABS/PVC will be below ground. The hole in the Savio will have a bulk head fitting in it. This fitting basically screws together with a rubber gasket that forms a watertight seal. ABS or PVC pipes are then connected to that bulk head fitting. The best thing to do is get a beginning plumbing book get familiar with the pieces and parts. As suggested before go to Home Depot and ask questions, and also see how things fit together and develop a plan. Then before you glue anything dry fit the pieces to see that everything fits. Then get back to us on the forum. Regards, Lisa...See MoreHow do you connect long pieces of wood for a bed?
Comments (7)LovenMyRubys: Hope you aren't minding this slight digression from end-to-end board connections; I'm really glad you posted your question when I'm coming "on board" with SQF. Dcleaver47: I'm not clear on how you mean using vertical boards... I was thinking using one at joining points, or maybe occasionally at other places (maybe about every 4 feet?? - I'm no engineer or carpenter!) along (the outside) 2 boards (eg 2x6's or 2x4's or combo) that are stacked/affixed side-by-side, using those mending plates also if advisable. Basically as reinforcement. The 2x2's at the corners, pounded into the ground, seems like a good idea to me too, especially if the bed won't be moved. Re-reading, I see rfjcal has suggested putting 2 foot pieces on the outside of 2x10's to reinforce. I'm sure there are many ways to make a successful bed; nice to learn new tips though....See MoreStar Wars: The Force Awakens! (No spoilers please if you comment)
Comments (25)kswl, the only new main character we enjoyed watching was Rey. amylou, I had heard about it too. I was so ready for the movie to end (bathroom break, please!) it didn't phase me. DH and I decided Lea looked great (who hasn't heard about her weight loss before filming) but basically botox face during her moments. Barely any facial movement/expressions. Did not know Domhnall Gleeson was in the movie - loved him in (and the movie) About Time. Enjoyed his bits. We also like Adam Driver, but didn't enjoy his role as much as we hoped....See MoreVietnam War by Ken Burns on PBS
Comments (20)Vietnam was a major part of my teen/college years and yet I knew very little about it. didn't get to watch tonight's installment (9/25) but there were moments in each of previous ones when I was just holding my breath. i remember the famous pictures on news... that little girl running naked down the road because of napalm burns... the guy being shot in the head on the street. but seeing the film of those events was completely different. i know schools couldn't possibly fit this into their history curriculum, but should be required... Vietnam was NOT "Forest Gump"!...See More- 4 years agolast modified: 4 years ago
