I have two Perlick units, a wine reserve and a refrigerator. the refrigerator also includes one wine shelf that I retrofitted. The shelf depth is 17.5 inches, easily longer than a stoppered wine bottle or Champaign bottle (unless one is into bottles named after ancient kings). The amount one can tilt the wine shelf itself is zero, and one wouldn't want to, as the shelf grid is designed to fit the bottles in an alternating pattern. Individual neck supports could be built to provide some bottle tilt, enough to keep sediment into a smaller pocket at the bottom but not large enough to expose the cork, or for that matter, restrict the spacing between shelves. One would have to bend a stiff wire to hold the bottle neck above the "bottle-shaped" shelf grid providing bottle support. I wouldn't bother. Note that for Cabernets kept somewhat past their likely optimal aging time, even a wetted cork may start to deteriorate and significant care is needed to get most of it out of the neck. Pressure openers may be best in such cases.

rubyvine, Summit has fridges from various sources (relabeled) so it will be hard to ascertain loudness unless you go by each individual model and even then you may not find someone who has bought it and installed it in a typical kitchen and is signed in somewhere reachable. Fro example, I know the tall thin bottom freezer CP-171 model fridge is quiet. I've heard it operating ful blast and under various other conditions. ((Btw, this one was also available from Home Depot as a Vestfrost 350 or 375 model, and is available also from ConServ)) Ask which make the 3 drawer fridge is; whose design it was. Just for fun, ask which compressor it uses (Embraco, Danfoss, etc), and how much the fan runs. You'll get an idea how solid the design is. The real answer sought after is user-experienced noise, the sum of many small noises, and that may be what Mark will talk about, if he has ever spent time alone with one in a closed room together. : - ) Or else he will tell you that the fridge has the same guts as some other one, which he knows better. Etc. Etc. Etc. Some manufacturers discuss their fridge noises freely and openly. On the Fagor web site you can locate the PDF for their tall 24" wide fridge and see what they say about all the possible noises. Since fridges move a coolant liquid through tubing, they can make sloshing noises, and since they have compressors they can make humming buzzing noises. Etc, etc, etc. Fagor is very open about their fridge noises. Most other fridge manufacturers are very guarded. Hoping you can locate some similar information for the 3-drawer one. HTH. -david

i sell u-line undercounter fridges good company but i like their ice makers better ...dcs is coming out with a grat under counter fridge i believe it is available right now ...dcs is a fisher and paykel offshoot ....but i have ariston u/c fridge and love them they made a lil noise after running for 2 years but got that fixed was something small and simple ...not sure what i just called my app guy and he came and fixed it

I do not have room for anything larger that total of 36" for a regular fridge and freezer (current space has only 30") . SubZeros simply do not have enough dedicated space for produce and like pretty much all other brands, waste too much space on freezer space. I need a small freezer at least (I have a full one in the basement) to keep certain items at hand, so I can't give it up altogether. Side by side columns take up far more space than I have available. The Tupperware green containers take up far too much storage space and don't work all that well. I get weekly produce deliveries from local farms that I need to be able to store and keep as fresh as possible until I'm able to use them. Wish Subzero or Miele had 4 door models with the ability to change the function of one section to fridge/freezer (like Samsung does, but with better reliability).
