Flooring Remodeling Design Dilemma

Need to Choose Flooring by Tuesday!!!

Hi everyone, I need to choose a flooring by Tuesday, please help me!!!

The living/dining room is rectangular size 320 mm wide x 600mm long, there is another 260mm for a kitchen. A fireplace that takes up 70mm of the width.

We had a very similar flooring to the lighter one and it looked great, but the other one is more warm and homey.

My dilemma is: will the warmer flooring accentuate the rooms rectangular/long shape too much?

Attaching photos of the flooring on different lighting conditions and a bad visualization I made with the lighter one and a sample of the warmer flooring from a website I found it on.

The flooring is not going to change the shape of the room. It won't accentuate the shape of the room either. : ) Pick the one you like the most.

I don’t see how one or the other will affect the room shape, but I prefer the lighter of the two.

The cat's name is Arthur, or just "cat". He's Siamese, and was the inspiration for our white/tan/brown/blue palette. The wall color is Glidden "Delicate White" - it's just off-white enough that it doesn't feel harsh and our pure white trim still pops. Not a huge fan of Glidden as a base (it's very thin) but it came out too white when we tried to switch to Behr.

You need to look at installed photos of those floors. The darker one looks like it might have a large range in the color of the boards and will look like patchwork and busy once installed. Also be aware that most sample boards are hand picked using the nicest looking planks! I went to several flooring stores that carried the brands I was interested in to look at more than one sample board. When I narrowed my choices to 2 products, I ordered a full box of each to really be able to see the color variation in the product. You will waste money on the one box you don't pick, but well worth it when you are ordering thousands or tens of thousands in wood floors.

Can’t go wrong with a (real) wood floor. Warm underfoot, easy on the legs, easy to care for, and goes with all materials. Are you replacing all of the floors, as you remodel the entire home? If so, keep it uniform. Install wood in the kitchen, too. Thousands of us here, can attest to wood being a great choice for the kitchen…even if you have dogs, cats, and children.

I agree either one will work I prefer the lighter one but neither will have an effect on the size or shape of the space .

I also aesthetically prefer the lighter option. But yes, both will do the same thing to space. Pick what you love!!

Same here. I like the lighter one, and agree, neither will effect the size or shape of the space. Pick the one that you like the most, and that your furniture will look the best with.

Thanks everyone. I found an account on instagram that has the this exact warmer color flooring and I think we will go with it. The lighter one looks great, but the other one feels more cosy, I hope it isn't too strong for our space :)
