I think the white kitchen cabinets next to the marble veined countertop (did you mean Quartz?) will be a mismatch of whites. I'd leave the cabinets as is with their pretty wood finish, and just re-do the counters. Maybe change out the old-style 50-50 double-bowl sink while you are at it.

I wouldn't paint the cabinets. I think they're really nice-looking, and I like the dark countertop with them for the contrast. I would update the backsplash, either remove the tile and paint the area above the 4" countertop splash, or remove both the existing tile and the 4" backsplash and pick out a new backsplash tile. You might also think about changing out the kitchen floor to something like a slate-look tile in a neutral charcoal tone to coordinate with the counters, or run in some hardwood. But really it's the backsplash area that needs the work, IMO.

I love the color of your cabinets. Agree on chaning the flooring. If you wanted to do marble, maybe incorportate a marble countertop and backsplash in one and make the floor lighter. Maybe paint the island a different color for contrast?

Thank you for the comments if I was to replace the countertop only only, what color would you suggest I go with? Also Also, we just recently added the backsplash, so we wont want to remove that.

@Brendan Heppner - I like that tile! Hmm, I see why you want marble counter top. Maybe try to match the style of the white tile in the counter? I think that with a slate floor, if you change it, would look nice.

Your kitchen is very nice just like it is. I would add a bit of color here and there, and not do another thing.

@eld6161 I didnt even notice that, good point. @Brendan Heppner, do you have extra tile to finish off the bottom? Does the tile match in size?

I do have some extra tile but that 4 inch backsplash is attached to the counter by the looks of things. Would you suggest painting the floor to look like a slate color?

@Brendan Heppner I don’t think I would paint the floor because the kitchen is a high traffic area. I mean slate would look nice, but you also have brown in your tile so it might work as well!
