Paint colour for open concept living/kitchen
Comments (14)Hi Chrissi, those are both nice looking floors. We are the reverse - I prefer darker floors and my husband prefers mid-tones. But because we have a big dog, the hydrocork line was key for us to have peace of mind without him scratching the floor to bits. I know only one other person with cork floors (20+ years old and probably not Wicanders), and there's has worn to the point of replacement, in part because of their dog. We place a good deal of weight on product reviews and the lack of information about the Chinese brands was a deterring factor for us. They are cheaper yes, but it wasn't a risk we were willing to take. We just don't know how it will hold up long term. If it is click and press installation like Wicanders, it might not matter because you can replace single boards without ripping up the whole floor. Good luck!...See Morepaint colors appearing much darker open concept
Comments (11)You’re right about the contrast with off-white and marble which is cooler-more white rather than yellow. BM Oxford white is a tinge gray. I recommend Googling ‘Maria Killam’...she had a blog and sells e-books about color...everything from wall color to back splashes/counters and cabinets. Came in handy when I was trying to figure out paint colors. What type of bulbs are you using? 2700-3000-3500-4000? I found the 4K are as bright as I could possibly go. Anything lower and the BM Chantilly Lace would have looked more yellow. What direction does the natural light come from during the day? If there’s plastic I’m covering the windows it will make a difference because the walls are reflecting that too. Maybe try a daytime pic, with the plastic removed to get a better idea. Good luck!...See Morewhat color wall paint for open concept large room
Comments (4)LRV only tells how much light reflects from the painted surface. It tells us nothing about how colourful a colour is,,, Thanks for making that clear for everyone. This isn't a difficult fact to prove out for yourself. Those are 4 great examples to pull that prove LRV has nothing to do with how white/gray/neutral a color is. Cotton Balls compared to Bavarian Cream is yet another example that demonstrates the fact that LRV has nothing to do with whiteness. Misleading information about how to use LRV does nothing but hurt people who are looking for help with color. Completely wrong information about LRV is a bigger problem now than it has been because paint and colorant shortages mean people don't have the luxury of proving out for themselves which color and design bloggers are full of crap and which ones aren't....See MoreNeed advice for paint color for dining room in open concept layout.
Comments (8)@elcieg, wow, a lot of negativity here! Yes, I am a professional color consultant; I actually worked for Sherwin-Williams as a color consultant and have worked almost exclusively with their colors for nearly 20 years. I am not contradicting pairing Accessible Beige with Misty; however, I believe it is a poor choice for the author's living space as described. I have no problem offering personal advice with professional confidence. Perhaps you've noticed by now that I had offered @janesterly some color options for her space. Also, you misunderstood: gray with blue undertones (in lighter shades) gives off a baby blue vibe -- and I stand behind that statement!...See MoreYoung Cook
