eta: title of thread was edited to remove the MCM reference. Now reads just mid-century, which seems more accurate...tho' I don't really think of 70's houses as mid century either.

Yes, the views around there are great! About a 10 minute walk to that lake (with a 300 acre old growth park). I love walking around this area, it's beautiful.

Jinx, I legit love the kitchen cabinets. I would want to paint them a bright color and decorate the kitchen Jonathan Adler style.

I hope someone doesn't do a tear down and build one of those monstrosities you see so often going up on choice lots in Seattle, that will block the views of people behind them.

I’m hard-pressed to find anything I’d keep. The entry and bathroom floors looks interesting in the picture—maybe not so much irl. Is that all stained glass or plastic inserts? I’d have to redo the exterior as well. How do they get clothes out of the washer?

Gosh, I hope there is an ordinance to keep the new owner from ruining everyone’s gorgeous view!!! I cannot imagine trying to furnish that…..will grey fabric look good? White leather???

Yeah, this pulls in a lot of bad elements of mid-century design. So many things I would want to change for function (kitchen) or aesthetics (so many things). The view are amazing. I'm pretty sure those are mature fruit trees in the yard (I can't tell what fruit), which is cool.

Olychick - Springroz - I'm not sure if a bigger house would block anything. this area is all hill. even their neighbors across the street are higher up. plus, this current house is built into the hill so the top floor is street level. hopefully a replacement house would be designed the same.

Bunny - I would 100% keep the deck railing and paint it black. I'm currently shopping around for railing and OMG, I can't believe how expensive it is. maybe I should lurk the new owners and ask if I can buy their stuff!

I also love their kitchen cabinets. I want to put them in my craft room.

Oh, that is FUN. I tend to like 60’s vs. 70’s but this has such great character.

Wow - a million dollars - not in a million years. Even the view is suboptimal - overlooking other homes and potentially diminished over time as the trees grow.

Even on House Hunters I’ve watched recently $1M is kind of the going rate there.

This must be in one of the less expensive parts of Seattle. I would expect a house that size to cost at least twice as much. Of course there would be the expense of removing all of that carpet but still, it should not cost too much to get rid of and replace with nicer flooring.

Lars, gsciencechick yep! It's the South end. This house is technically on a nice street, but a stone's throw from an area that's mildly sketchy (really mild -- or otherwise I wouldn't live here). Rapidly gentrifying and increasing in popularity, but it's pretty far out from the city center. Commuting north is awful, unless you live really close to the light rail (which this house is not). The buses down here are literally the worst.
