Thoughts on a reliable refrigerator? Seeing mixed reviews by googling so thought id ask here. Thanks in advance!

You have to be more specific: width? depth? features? etc.

Honestly you have to compare models side by side using the ratings and reviews from a variety of stores where you can purchase the product.

I've been tracking french door refrigerators for 3 months. I evaluate the ratings for a variety of brands from Lowe's, Home Depot, Build.com, and Costco. I'm a data person so I track the readings and see who keeps rising to the top.

There are many people here who swear by Consumer Reports. Their online access is only $10 a month.

Asking here will not give you enough feedback to make an informed decision. Go to lowes.com find a couple of refrigerators that have the features, the size, the style that you like and take that model number and go to the other places where you can buy it and look at the readings and reviews and compare them. Then when you can narrow it down to two or three go to Consumer Reports and see how they performed.

In the category you're describing (flush counter-depth, tall), have you looked at the Thermador? We have the 30" and its been excellent so far (just two months). The one downside (and it's significant, but I don't know how it compares to the others) is that the produce drawer is WAY too small (too shallow top to bottom - you can't possibly fit a head of lettuce in it).

I've had the 72-inch high, 22 cu ft Architect II KitchenAid counter-depth fridge for about 2 1/2 years now. It has its quirks but you get used to what you have and learn how to work around the little things. For instance, you need to be careful about putting things in the back of the top shelf because it's a little colder back there and I've had yogurt that was sitting against the vent freeze. But once you know that you just adjust your storage habits. This model is just a little taller than most others we looked at, but I think those extra few inches make it look like a much more high-end piece in the kitchen. The internal water dispenser is a big plus too, it leaves a lot more precious interior space than the thru-the-door models, and to my eye it gives the fridge a cleaner, more classic look. Overall I'm happy with it. There's no rust and it's not magnetic. Stainless Steel takes some effort to keep clean but I'm sure the same could be said for black. It matches the rest of our SS appliances and is no more difficult to maintain than any of the others. I'm not sure what changes may have been made to the model since we bought ours, though. I know there have been some updates to the electronics and possibly the lighting. I see it's also sold in black and white. My specific model is the KFCS22EVMS0.

I love my JennAir (white). It's the same as KitchenAid. At the time I bought it, they were the only 72" tall fridges, so there wasn't a big gap between the top of the fridge and the cabinet above.

@jackowskib - thanks for the quick comment and kind words! I am considering shifting the fridge over. I'm waiting to hear just how much space we can stick in between the fridge and the wall to be sure I can open the fridge doors past 90°. The last thing I want is to limit access to the drawers inside. I have the same opinion about the bottom freezers actually. There are 2 models that I've seen that do a better job of capturing most of the space and they include a separate (can be opened w/o opening french doors) refrigeration/custom temp drawer. Those are the reasons I've added them to my consideration list. Also, we're going to have a small freezer in the house so I've got a little additional freezer storage available. That section of cabinet to the right on the counter will either be open or have a bifold door that opens to the right. Apparently those stay-open hinges are quite expensive!

I'm in the same boat. Have been looking at Bosch because of dual compressors, evaporators, and air purifier, but seeing mixed or not many reviews.

I am also looking. French door refrigerator, preferably two drawers at the bottom for flex/freezer. 36" width, standard depth, and upto 72" height.

I have a KA side by side and the icemaker and water quit years ago. I dont want that anymore, I do not care for an ice maker and cold water dispenser, either inside or outside. I fill a steel jug for cold water and a few ice cube trays, and that works well for me. I dont mind the fancy stuff but I rarely change the temp, know what's in my fridge, and can look up the calendar on my phone...so don't find the cameras and screens on the doors useful for me.

The idea of the middle drawer having a different temp than the refrigerator or freezer appeals to me. Humidity control also seemed interesting on some models, however, I noticed the crisper drawers weren't really sealed properly, so not sure If there really is any control. I like the idea of two compressors, two evaporator, but for just two people, seems overkill.

I've been to Lowes, BB, HD, and after some time, they have all started looking the same to me. Not partial to any manufacturer or retailer, though try to find a local small business with reasonable price. Appreciate any recommendations for something simple and reliable.
