Found a Good Exterior Yellow

Found one! Figured I would post in case anyone is looking, and pay if forward since I spent a long time reading posts when I was trying to find a good yellow. This is Benjamin Moore Arborcoat solid stain in Cornsilk 198. It’s pretty but still subtle and sophisticated IMO.

@Jinx thank you so much! I forgot to add that my whole house is not that color, just the front clapboard. I’m in coastal New England, and it’s common to have the front clapboard be painted and then stained or natural shingles on the other three sides. My shingles are stained a gray with blue undertones. Less maintenance (theoretically), given that with the salt air paint doesn’t that long.

Thanks for the responses. I didn't know about the daylily show, I had looked for their booth at the Leu Garden's plant sale this year, but they did not participate. Thanks for pointing out that they are doing their own show. I'll have to check that out. Katkin, where did you get your daylilies from? Did you seek out named varieties from a local source? Or did you order evergreen varieties online? One of the things I've been wondering is if evergreen varieties purchases online from a northern vendor will do ok here? Or if there are other factors in play? Most of the local vendors & farms have very fancy (and very expensive) named varieties. Some of the northern companies have a wider selection of older (and cheaper) varieties, many of which are evergreens. What do you think? Angela

I found good advice for dealing with the leaves

I've been collecting other peoples leaves for years now. I usually get around 500 bags and use them to mulch my garden and all of my flower beds. Many of the bags I pick up have already been mulched and they go straight into the beds. The other leaves go into a pile to be mulched when I have time. Last year all of my beds got mulched with orange and yellow maple leaves. It looked really nice. jim_6b

Found TIDE With Oriental Lettering At The Dollar Store-Any Good?

Hi, I donÂt see anything that looks like a date but, then, I canÂt read anything on the packaging. I have been to Dollar Stores where a great deal of the merchandise looked old and shopworn, but the items in this store all look quite new, including the Tide packaging. I feel that it most likely is not old. I did forget to mention that in addition to the standard Tide white, orange, and yellow circles on the logo, there is also an additional partial mint green circle at the outer edge. From the end of that circle, a large mint green droplet is suspended. I have a feeling this represents some kind of additive, but I have no idea what. I wonder whatÂs in this product? The illustrations indicate that it can be used for both white and colors. I asked the clerk in the Dollar Store about it and all she could tell me was that the people who buy it keep on coming back for more. She didnÂt seem to know much else. Thanks for any help! Genie

Marion you have a yellow franni, pity we didn't live closer we could swap colours. Hi Kathy I lived at Bluewater for 5 yrs its 35kms north of TSV before we moved here and I had lots of different colours they seem to have more up there in the tropics than down here, I bought my best colours from the Sunday Market at the TSV Showgrounds.I am sure you will be able to get what you want when you get back. No it is not a soursop Greencroc, I know what it is here is a clue "If you asked 99% of the people in the world what their favourite food was " you will find the answer, have another go...Cheers..MM.

I love New England! Haven’t been in years. One of my favorite framed prints is from a cute little place in Plymouth. I fell in love with New Hampshire that trip. :)

Very nice color! You didn’t ask but I would trim all your bushes to under your windows this fall. I have a Cape as well and it makes a big difference in curb appeal with no cost.

Your post was extremely helpful! Before seeing your post we spent a lot of time trying several yellow samples on our home that just didn't look right...we found that yellow was a very tricky color to get right. So when I happened to come across your post, I showed my husband your home and he agreed that your yellow looked really nice. Since you had provided the name of the color, we were able to get a sample, painted a small area on our home and it looked great. So glad you posted a picture and shared the color you used!
