Need help with this weird corner in my kitchen.. PICS inside.
Comments (9)There's nothing wrong with it if you just leave it blank with the aprons. It would bug me visually cause the window doesn't make sense with the ceiling beams and the cabinets are crammed up against it. So I would do the big bucks if you got 'em and take it out. Replace it with a smaller, but slightly taller window centered between the two beams. If you have a view, replace with a really tall window. I would try to resist the temptation to fill it up with stuff. Maybe one of those iron cookware stands? Maybe a small table or chest. To me, the trash can and stools help your kitchen look junque-ie. On the other hand, I don't get what's going on beside the ref with the dimmer on the wall ?in a corner?...See More*HELP* Silent Kitchen, bedroom near kitchen !
Comments (13)Thank you all! My roommate tends to wake up a little earlier (1-2 hour) earlier than me. Like you all mention, the rattling dishes or the refrigerator closing are probably the loudest culprits. However, in terms of volume annoyance, it will the sink water flow when she turns it on to make coffee/tea/breakfast/etc. Door - I can CHANGE the door but I have 1) double doors and 2) these doors are 8ft (floor to ceiling). One of these doors cost approximately $500+. Plus if I change these doors I would need to change the other doors as it might not match anymore. I am assuming the noise is coming thru the gap between the two doors and the bottom of the doors. I have been researching look for a product that can help but am unable to find anything. Maybe I can put a carpet under my door or near my door to muffle some of the sound? Sink - I was looking at Kraus with all there "sound muffling padding". I am not sure if this is a marketing scheme or not. I will look into salgranit sinks also. http://www.amazon.com/Kraus-KHU100-30-Undermount-Stainless-Kitchen/dp/B0032BYM4Y/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1453055865&sr=8-3&keywords=sink+kitchen Faucet - suggestion on faucet water flow and landing noise? Previous commenter mentioned getting a short-neck faucet. I know I won't be able to MUFFLE all the sound if someone is in. However, I want to do what I can now. 5% reduction in sound here and there. I might as well try since I am renovating the kitchen now and will be living here for a while =(. Every little thing counts!! See pictures below. I believe the sound is flowing through the little corridor/bar area into my bedroom. Thank you all for the various suggestion/advices! It's really amazing how everyone has different ideas....See MoreHelp with my weird space!!!
Comments (10)-regular height. one never knows who might come for dinner)) regular height is more comfortable for most. versatile. and if can have an option to have a leaf or smth that makes it bigger/smaller-even better -backsplash..so many colors would work. Look at backsplashes. A lot. Then you'll see that some, you look at them more. You'll return to them, constantly. they'll make your heart skip a bit. Why? I don't know. Maybe you wont know. But that's what you should choose, as you have this lucky type of kitchen that affords so many colors, and patterns if you like them, and all. -love your multi colored throw..so pretty and upbeat -you didn't ask that..but do you think you'd like to put a plant, on a little table under the TV? will bring some more life to that corner, and cover (partially) the cords -your place doesn't read weird to me..very home-y somehow. I understand the thing with the dining, but you'll figure that out. What's in the corner where dog bed is...is there space to fit something at all there? Maybe go layers.....See MoreHelp lighting a kitchen around a weird beam in the ceiling
Comments (34)Thanks for the help and suggestions with the photos. The beam will be just as low as it it now. It would just be about a third narrower. I got it about the recessed lights over the island, but I was wondering if there is any way to make this more decorative too? Also, would that be enough to light the whole kitchen (except the eating area)? Any advice on how many lights or how strong they should be? The kitchen will have a reddish brown hardwood and white cabinets. Mostly existing appliances. Also, we just put LED recessed lights in another room and they just don't dim enough. Any thoughts on lights that actually dim? Stick with incandescents or try something else? Thank you!!...See MoreLal
