Comments (11)I lived near a golf course in Texas, and there was a beaver pond nearby. The beavers got busy one spring and removed all the crapemyrtles in 3 adjoining yards! All along the banks you could see little spiky stubs where various trees had been. The beavers kept those banks clean of the usual native trees... At one time the volunteer fire dept. had come and blasted the beaver dam with high pressure hoses. The beavers restored their home to order within days.. Oh Dear! Plant Mermaid & Fortune's Double Yellow..(well they might be too tender but they are lethal)...See MoreAnyone Have a Photo of Angel Blush Taken Right Now????
Comments (1)I was hoping to see photos of older Angel's Blush once more too! Mine is just a baby (1gal pot) this Spring & blooms were mere 5-6 inch nursery-forced & not worth posting yet - perhaps, next season! I have memories of Silvergold's & an absolute beauty in bright, coral-pink! You are fortunate to get a large one for that price ... I don't think you'll be sorry!!! Comments (35)Well my DH wins the prize. He hasn't divorced me or threatened to take away my spade, yet. I don't know if all of you saw the photos that Jim (Idiothe) posted of Sheila and I with our kayaks and bikes and the car completely loaded with hostas? Well in order to do that we loaded all our gear in our boats. It is my hubby's car. (both our names are on it, but it is his vehicle 98% of the time.) I drive the used Mommy van that gets used as a truck for hauling mulch and whatever. But the kayak rack is mine, and I can't load boats on my van due to a bad shoulder. So..... he is very particular about his car. He hates me putting the rack on, he will not drive on gravel, etc. So with my bad shoulder, and the heavy boats, I couldn't lift my end of Sheil's up very well. So the J cradles kept twisting and falling down. I finally found a man to help us. We finally got it loaded, made it home... and there are dents all over the top of the car. Bad dents, like really big hail. :( Like will never come out. I feel awful, I do. Whats done is done, and he isn't holding it against me. But he is so sad. And I am too. But I did get all my hostas home! So he wins the hosta hubby of the year award. I need to get those trophies made, don't I? Comments (8)Oooo, no chambeys for you, Alan, at least not until you get some canopy. You could probably grow a fantastic Bismarckia nobilis, though, they love heat and despise shade, and they are such a striking palm, especially the silver-blue. Also Dypsis decipiens and Dypsis decaryi (triangle), any of the Livistonas, and possibly Wodyetia bifurcata, or foxtails. Honestly, at 20F the foxtails and triangle won't make it; 26-28F they'd survive if established. You can also grow Jubea chilensis (Chilean wine palm), but it's notoriously slow. Phoenix rupicola is attractive and can sometimes be found in size at a reasonable price, will take down to 25F. Sorry about your kings, that's very painful....See MoreKristine LeGault 8a pnw
