They are pretty, but yeah, the wrong color. Black would definitely be striking. I'd be inclined to replace or sand and do them the same stain as the floor but I play it "safe" that way. That's probably more expensive than I imagine, anyway. Keeping this bumped so hopefully a pro will weigh in.

What do you think about painting it clary sage sherwin Williams color. The room has an earthy natural feel. I think black might be stark.

White or refinish to match the floor (faux graining is an option too, it’s high enough that it doesn’t have to be perfect)

This is a buddy of mine here in SE Georgia- if it’s not obvious he is painting the formerly white ceiling to look like wood. Much cheaper than stripping or replacing.

Is the ceiling what you want to feature if not- paint them white and let the fan be the feature in that room.

A stain with green will remove the red… retain the brown.. just a darker shade

they're pretty but look damaged. black would look really good. matte will hide flaws better. PLEASE post pics when you're all done and furnished, this living room has so much potential!

Looks great and your painter is doing a really nice job!

Very nice…it does draw the eye to the ceiling more …which could seem to bring the ceiling lower…but it is much more elegant and striking this way

All white would be more architectural….less likely to dictate your decor choices…

oooh, the black looks great! no, it doesn't make the ceiling look lower. besides, that ceiling is high enough already.

Hopefully, you are also doing those baseboards black, to go with the rest of the black. I see they are white right now, and they look a bit out of place.
