I Woke Up To Cold Weather !!!
Comments (14)Every spring I feel like the antithesis of "Goodnight Moon" as I individually remark on and greet each new leaf, bud, and bloom. Each fall I find myself bidding each adieu. This little ditty popped into my head as I walked around the garden today... In a great green garden There was a hammock And balloon flowers And a woman- Who lolled out back for hours And there were three little roses and a pile of hoses And two little gayfeather Who liked only fair weather And a little bird nest Filled with Robin Red Breast And a hoe and a spade and other tools mislaid And a giddy old lady sipping lemonade Goodbye green Goodbye beans Goodbye to my summer routine Goodbye warmth And the blooms you bring forth Goodbye roses Goodbye hoses Goodbye gayfeather And goodbye fair weather Goodbye bees And goodbye leaves Goodbye birdÂs nest And goodbye Robin Red Breast Goodbye hoe And goodbye spade Goodbye to all the tools mislaid And goodbye to the giddy old galÂs lemonade Goodbye herbs Goodbye hummingbirds Goodbye summer everywhere....See Morewoke up to find the deer ate my plants - what to do?
Comments (13)The first thing you have to do is find a way to keep them from doing more damage. They will be back. Some deterrents work sometimes for some deer. One person I know uses gasoline on a rag on each of the 4 corners of his garden. Of course he has to apply the gas every day and gas is getting expensive so even a small amount like that can get pricey. Another person that lives 10 miles away tried the same tactic and it didn't work. See what I mean about deterrents? The bottom line is it is a dice roll. If nothing else deer netting around cages or deer netting drapped over the stakes if you steak might be a good temporary solution. Depending on how badly damaged the plants are (how much was removed) and how big they were when damaged will go a long way in deciding whether to replace or not. Good strong healthy plants will grow back, but they will be slowed in their development. As you say fencing is probably your best solution, but you need time to determine the type you want to use. Good luck. Randy...See MoreJust woke up CONFUSED!
Comments (14)I often stay up late at night, don't get up till near noon, so am good to go throughout the afternoon. However, when a youth on the farm, sometimes when cultivating a field a half mile or a mile long ... ... about 2 or so in the afternoon, on a warm, sunny day, the cultivating marks would tend to start weaving back and forth: on the right track sometimes ... and nearly on it sometimes. Time to lie on the soft ground by the rear wheel of the tractor for a 10 - 20 min. nap ... ... then be in great shape for the rest of the afternoon. For a Frugal Fella like me, the current habit of using the light through the night ... ... and sleeping through half of the day, filled with precious sunlight, seems rather an unfrugal habit. Sue used to say that I could sleep any time ... and any place. I note that I can swig a mug o' coffee half an hour before going to bed ... and drop off to sleep with no problem. I am happy and oh, so fortunate to have a very accomodating body, it seems. ole joyful...See MoreWoke up to this
Comments (20)It's possible the remote is stuck and sending the signal to the TV. Pull the battery, which anytime you have a battery appliance get wet, the first thing to do is pull the battery. Then the TV should work from the set. Wash off the remote, dry it and it might be fine. Dry it well, over a week or two and moving air helps. The rice bag or silica, Damp Rid or something will help. When we had the store we used plain glass cleaner to clean keyboards that had spills or sludge buildups. Drench it and a slight rinse, then a thorough drying in front of a fan, moved often so all moisture would work out of all the spaces and it saved many a keyboard. Although keyboards were more expensive then. When they got super cheap, I told people to toss them and buy new. The problem with universal remotes is two-fold in my book: 1) They're not truly "universal". I've got 3 or 4 in a drawer that don't work with various TVs; and 2) You don't have access to all of the controls on the TV such as brightness, programming, etc. You have on/off and volume and channel changing essentially. I prefer the right remote for the set. Annoying? Yes. But don't cry over spilled coffee. No injuries, and as we say in Minnesota, "could be worse". And my favorite line is from Young Frankenstein, Could be worse.... could be raining (with the rumble of thunder in the background. :) And Dotmom, at least it was the TV and not the coffeemaker this time, huh? :D Hope you're having a fabulous day. It's really pretty nice outside. Wanna build a snowman?...See Moreglenda smith
