please suggest sconces (& lighting in general)!
Comments (13)shanghaimom: i can't wait to get the sconces in. i ordered seven of them; three for the vanity backsplash with two additional to sit on either side of the double french entry doors, over panels of the shell tile. the remaining two will go in a sort of entry room to my closet, which is a vanity/makeup area, so i'm hoping they throw off enough light. if not, there's Plan B (which i haven't really thought of yet.) and yes, the finish on the sconces seems very non-committal! i'm thinking it will be nice to mix it up a bit with the finishes in there. fingers crossed that it all pulls together!...See MoreHelp me decide on size of sconces for front door and garage
Comments (2)A simple way to solve your dilemma. Cut out templates the size of the 2 lights and tape them up on the house. You didn't mention how tall your house is or how much space you have on the garage where those lights are going. Remember that when someone is standing at your front door, those lights will appear larger than they will when viewed from a street in front. Most errors occur when the lights are too small when viewed from the street. Try the cut outs and you will be able to decide. Brown paper or brown cardboard are good to use. If the fixtures are going to be dark, use a dark material. Anyone can have an opinion, but it is your opinion that really matters, once you have a visual reference. There is no right or wrong answer to your question. A lot has to do with the visual weight of the fixtures. Is all of the length in fixture body or is some of that a bottom finial or top and bottom scrools ? Make sure your cutouts replicate the shape as well as the size....See MoreSuggestions for wall sconces to complement lantern pendant
Comments (5)Yes, those are the style chandeliers I was looking at...either those long ones or ones that look more like a pendant hanging from a single chain. I think that the wall sconce option shown looks more like it would be for outdoors? Or perhaps too "matchy" to the ceiling light I am thinking of? It is pretty though....hmmmm…....See MoreSuggestions for one wall sconce wall.
Comments (5)I think that a 2nd light fixture is a good idea. The height of the current one doesn't look too bad but if you're getting a new one, go with something taller which will appear to be higher on the wall....See MoreBryan
