From a friend recovering from the virus

Just got off the phone with a friend in Florida. She and her husband are both recovering from Covid - both vax'd, one with Moderna and the other with J&J - required because of allergies. Likely caught from a 70 year old unvax'd friend now in the hospital fighting for his life. Her advice to me as I'm about to head into the red zone on a road trip for a wedding in NC next week. Keep your distance, no hugging or handshaking, wear an effective mask.

Her experience leads me to believe being vax'd is little to no protection from catching Delta but effective in preventing serious symptoms. She and her DH have had flu like symptoms for about a week - ebbs and flows. They did get the monoclonal antibody infusion - whatever that drug is called. My greatest concern is not getting so sick we are unable to drive home. Ugghh.....hopefully we'll take sufficient precautions to prevent ourselves from getting sick or at least make it home within the incubation period.

Gad, when will this ever end.....
