is is poison hemlock

I saw an article about poison hemlock and how it is spreading across the country, possibly due to changing climate.

I had an encounter with this some years ago here in the mid Atlantic region.

There was a really pretty plant growing in the front yard and I thought that it would be nice to just let it grow. And I did.

Then, when I went online to identify it, it was obvious that it was poison hemlock! I have seen none since that and have no idea where it came from.

It is a bit scarry that this plant can sneak in from parts unknown and be so pretty and growing, but so deadly.

I urge all to learn to recognize this when you see it because it looks so benign and harmless and can easily be mistaken for Queen anns lace. It is a dangerous plant! Look for those purpleish colors on the stem.
