Sneak Peak....Wet run...Washed my hair and shaved my legs!
Comments (3)Thanks, still have to design and build/have built medicine cabinet and storage cabinet over toilet, paint edging for one edge of tile, redo window sill (too wide now that tile is up), paint door trim and door, install granite, faucet, sink, drawers and handles... Well, phoned CS this morning, she asked "Did you clean the walls first" (slight language barrier as think she must be French LOL), "of course" I replied. Thinking aha, that's probably what it was. DH installed glass when I was away, and I'm pretty darn sure he would NOT have cleaned it off before he applied the seal (comes with very high bond tape). So, not sure how we will address the seal on the stationary glass, we're thinking somehow heat it up (maybe with hair dryer) and try and reseal it... They will be sending out new seals via FedExpress (hopefully today), but DH wants to try using the heating up method to get these current ones to reseal, and keep the new ones as back-ups. They seem pretty securely fastened today... Dreaming, the bottom shelf is a piece of our granite 'Aran Creme', and the back is a stone mosaic, probably limestone or travertine marble. We will use the same mosaic as backsplash for the vanity along with matching marble pencil liners for edging, still have to decide how high to go......See MoreShower remodel, Swanstone and Kerdi Products
Comments (9)I have never used Kerdi products, but from what I've read in my research, there should be absolutely no problem using a Swanstone base in combination with them. I just have a question for you regarding your tiled bench. Have you sat on/tried a bench that is only 11.5" deep? I have a teak bench that is 12" deep and I just went and butted it up to my tile wall to see what that would feel like. It was quite uncomfortable for me, My back hit the tiled wall and the bench cut into my upper thighs. Now I know I have a big ...., but I would suggest you try it for yourself. I really like the flexibility of having a separate bench. I have used it outside the shower in front of my vanity, and I found I liked to move it more forward in the shower for shaving my legs. Just a thought......See MoreLedges, niches and shelves
Comments (32)I like both niches and having a ledge for shaving. But the niches do need to be up far enough and out of the way of shower spray to keep them from getting gunky. I've found that behind the shower spray doesn't cut it and I hate the corner things that aren't really 'niches'. Had one in a former shower. Also they need to be big enough to put most things actually in them, including tall bottles, with shorter things and razors on an upper shelf within the niche. The lower ledge for shaving should also be out of the way and not so big as to obstruct a person standing under the shower. Good examples, Eureka....See MoreAre corner shelves sturdy enough for shaving legs?!
Comments (16)This is an old thread but I'm currently dealing with the "shaving" issue. I'm replacing a tub-shower combo with a Swanstone shower, and was thinking that putting in the seat would make the shower too cramped. So my Swanstone guy suggested this recessed accessory shelf as an alternative. I think this could work instead of a shelf or seat. Any opinions? Here is a link that might be useful: Swanstone recessed accessory shelf for shaving legs?...See MoreJin
