Help me choose an exterior color scheme
Comments (9)someone asked about the setting. It's in north Texas in an established neighborhood with houses ranging in age from the 40's to new construction. Our original plan was the first pic but the architect offered the second. We're just breaking ground but we need to choose the brick, roof tile, and window cladding color so I appreciate all of your input. After my doubts, I think we'll probably stick with the first. It's been a year long design process and it is anxiety-provoking to think that all of the selections will actually be put out there and have to work together. It's all fun and games until the checks have to be written. Thanks everyone....See MoreHelp choosing new color scheme for outside house
Comments (7)Hi there! What colors are you typically drawn to? It would sure help to know. But since I don't know I will give you my opinion of what "I'd" do if it were mine. I cringe at what people might think about this but I would paint the brick. Please don't take offense but I don't love that color of brick. I prefer a deep robust red brick. I saw another pic and though it is not brick I love the color. I believe it is BM Revere Pewter (2nd pic below). I sure hope she doesn't mind that I copied the pic but rather sees it as a compliment because I love it! This color would look great with a black/charcol roof and some black shutters. I would even go darker on the house color. I've also always loved houses painted white with black shutters and since turquoise is "in" that could be the door color, but not the garage door, I would keep that white with this combo. I am sorry if painting the brick is out of the question, I just couldn't help myself. Comments (4)I'm hesitant to comment since I usually only come to this forum for advice. I don't have decorating talent but I do have an older lake cottage in MN and it is painted green. We used BM Saybrook Sage with Louisburg green trim and black forest green and a rust/red color as accents. The green DOES blend in with the trees and grass. We don't mind and we did have a builder stop and ask what colors we used but it is a mellow effect and it won't necessarily show off your property. You don't mention what color your stonework will be on the house. I don't know if green is going to go with a lot of natural stone colors. You might want to try to work with a body color that complements the mortar and stone and save the high impact color for your trim and accents. I have a stucco house and wanted more of a "stoneish" color and went with BM Saint Martin Sand wiht Driftscape tan and pueblo Brown trim and accent. The colors are reflective of colors and tones found in our brick and mortar so it works well. Definately not for everyone but I offer it up as a different direction to think about that is not cream....See MoreChoosing Exterior Color Scheme
