Hood to go with Wolf 36" contemporary cooktop

Any advice on a hood to go with a Wolf 36" gas contemporary cooktop?

Burner specs:

  • 2 - 9,200 Btu Burner
  • 2 - 12,000 Btu Burner
  • 1 - 20,000 Btu Burner

Behind the cooktop is a currently the backside of our living room fireplace. So it looks like brick, but we are going to put a tile backsplash over the brick that runs up to the 8' ceiling. Because the wall behind the cooktop is our fireplace, I'm not sure if we'd need to get a wall mount or ceiling mount hood.... as we probably don't want to be putting holes into the fireplace? The cabinets in our galley kitchen will be slab style made of oak. No uppers on the side with the cooktop.

Our roof is pretty low, so I would think that we'd probably just have the vent run straight up through the roof, unless the contractor recommends a better way. I have not done all my hood/venting research. I honestly don't use my current fan enough, but I don't like the noise and I'm not sure it does much. It's original from then 1950's and is surely not to any current code. It looks like a little fan that a squirrel could power. lol

So thinking we need at least 600-700 CMF?

Is 36" wide enough? Looks like 42" would probably be smarter?

For styling I was thinking along these lines:

Thanks for any advice!
