How do I make this look pretty?
Comments (10)Hi, aleighjc. Here's a workable link to your original photo: I agree with popi that removing the large tree will make a huge change in how you regard the situation. I took out two 40+ year old silver maples in front of my house last summer, and it was amazing how that increased my ability to understand where I wanted to go with the foundation landscaping and hardscape. It's difficult to say anything about the smaller trees without seeing more of the yard. Could you take a photo of the entire front yard from farther back (probably across the street)? What direction does the house face? Do you need trees for shade? Do you know what the front shrubs are? They seem to be taking their cue from the giant tree, because they're also trying to eat the house, beginning with the windows. Depending what type of shrub they are, you might be able to prune them back. Or if they're something that can't be pruned back so far, you may have to decide between the shrubs and your windows....See MoreI think I know what this is...how do I make more?
Comments (2)Maja, I haven't tried them in water. I take off the lower leaves, put the stem in rooting hormone, and then put them in the ground. I'm in central Florida and I have sandy soil. If it's a very sunny area, I'll water the plants daily for at least a couple of weeks. This is one of my favorite plants. I just started some 2 weeks ago....See MoreHelp! How do I make it pretty?
Comments (15)I'm with the others...pick a warmer color for the walls out of the stone. And is that a fish over the front door? If so, not my favorite. Then get a saturated color for the front door, and I think I would paint the entire door surround, up to the arched stone the same color. Definitely plantings and I'm not sure what's going on on the right side of the building, but it looks like a fairly steep slope so you may need a retaining wall added......See MoreHow do I show my CG how to make a charging drawer?
Comments (7)Hi, it's working out great! I have a long skinny wooden box in the center of drawer for junk stuff and one side is husbands cell spot for recharge and the other side is for me. We only had a 15' drawer to work with in our smallish kitchen. Some people may think it's a waste to do this as technology is always changing and who knows maybe we will have wireless recharge or something crazy in the future but I was not willing to go without a cell hiding spot in the meantime. Our kitchen has more useable countertop since the remodel but not enough that I want a bunch of little things hanging out all over....See Moreeverdebz
