Has anyone seen the new Fisher & Paykel fridges in person?
Comments (15)Artemis, you helped me so much around this time last year, when I was considering the F&P fridges, too! Thank you. We, too, put off buying the fridge until we'd saved up more money. Now I am ready to order the french door RF201ADUX model, but lo and behold, there's a new model on the market. The RF195ADUX1 looks almost exactly the same but is $200 more expensive, and it's not clear what I'd be getting for the extra money. The newer model actually has .8 cu.ft less storage space in the fridge section (14.6 versus 13.8) so it seems like I'd be getting less. I have to decide by tomorrow because the only place I can buy it from -- the only store in this area that will replace the fridge if it's damaged during delivery -- has just one older model left in stock and F&P won't accept orders for it anymore. Should I buy the new one or the old one? Does anyone know what is better about the new one?...See MoreAnyone have a Fisher & Paykel E522BRE or E522BRX fridge?
Comments (12)Yes, I still like the Fisher & Paykel. The more I live with it, the more I appreciate how the designers and engineers made something I really enjoy at a reasonable price. I have grown to like the stainless steel front and the painted or powder-coated sides that are coordinated with the stainless steel but do not attempt to exactly match it. I have concluded that the refrigerator would look larger if it were all stainless steel, and that such a result would not go with the small kitchens for which this model is made. The fact that the sides are slightly darker and not as shiny as the front eliminates glare I would otherwise get from the light over the kitchen sink. The refrigerator made it through its first hot, humid summer in a house without air conditioning without getting any mold on the gaskets and without any condensation forming on or near the gaskets. I have not had a refrigerator that could do that before. In fact, I am so happy with this refrigerator, apparently designed in New Zealand, that I keep a bottle of Villa Maria Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand in the wine rack, out of sheer gratitude to a country that solved a problem nobody else bothered with, a good refrigerator for my kitchen, unremodeled since 1950 (the only change being cutting down the cabinet above the refrigerator nook, which was a few inches too low even for this small refrigerator). Every time I visit a store that sells refrigerators, I look at the display models and wonder why people pay thousands of dollars more for models with handles that look like a huge piece of wet pasta stuck on the front, with the doors always just a bit misaligned. The handle on the Fisher & Paykel reminds me of really high-end door hardware, like FSB from Germany. It is a pleasure to use every time. The fact that I like the refrigerator so much probably contributes to the fact that I keep it spotless, inside and out, all the time, without thinking of the cleaning as a chore....See MoreFisher & Paykel fridge - should I buy it?
Comments (45)We have had an absolute NIGHTMARE experience with a F&P flat front, counter depth, stainless fridge. If it wasn’t so infuriating, it would be funny, especially if it wasn’t happening to you. it started making very strange noises a week before the 2 year warrantee expired. Sounded just like a car revving it’s engine. This was over 2 years ago now and it still isn’t fixed. This company does not stand behind their product, period. Their technician has made us feel like we were insane for thinking this wasn’t a normal sound. Lying to our faces about the most basic of issues and previous visits. Cancelled appointments, lost paperwork, wrong parts ordered, etc etc etc. it was been a complete farce of after sale customer service and support. We have every e-mail and paper document, countless video and audio files of this fridge making these crazy sounds and yet...... here we are.....just today..... the 3rd cancelled appointment this month alone by the local F&P service rep...... yep, you guessed it...... after waiting at home since 7am this morning for the scheduled service. Do NOT buy this brand. It’s simply not worth the incredible hassel you will face if anything breaks.... with, or without a warrantee....See MoreFisher & Paykel Fridge--what side clearance do you have?
Comments (2)I ended up with a GE Cafe counter depth...it works, just doesn't have that sleek look I was after. It too was a tight fit, but seems to be working fine getting its' air from the top. Did not want to risk voiding the warranty on the F&P.. I'm happy with the performance of the GE (but the stainless smudges ALOT (teenage son has much to do with that). Miele dishwasher and dual fuel Wolf range....nothing matches, but nothing is beside each other and it really doesn't bother me...and each appliance works great, so I guess that's the important thing. Love the look of that F&P though....See Morewdccruise
