Provia Windows vs Window World

I kind of know the answer already but how does Window World compare to Provia Windows? The provia “aspect “and provia “endure”?

Miter Brands owns Sunrise, Milgard and MI to my understanding. The Sunrise name is no longer used and has been rebranded under MI in the v4000 and V5000 series. Window World is just an installation company, like me they buy wholesale from whoever they want and do not produce anything. Far as I know the V series and Milgard are still built at thebsame plants on the same extrusions as before and are superior products to Mi. Good or bad this is the nature of the business and will likely be the fate of many more when owners of these smaller companies die or sell out. Kind of like the auto boom ,there were a staggering amount of US auto manufactures and now we got 2.

Both the provia aspect and provia endure are much better than anything window world has to offer. To me, window world is a budget window for a budget oriented consumer.

Thanks. I figured that was the case as the Window World window looked cheap. I will scratch window world off my list. I am leaning toward the provia aspect series.

I should probably mention that I'm on a time crunch here because I fell for the sales pitch and signed with Windows USA last night. I have 72 hours to change my mind. I've read tons of stuff online and then called back with a list of questions for them and they answered almost all of them positively. I haven't done quite as much research on the other two brands. I figure I'll have to wait until Monday to call those companies since their websites don't have all the answers.

Well, I guess then I will get three Provia installation quotes from the dealers around here, and go with the one that feels the best from the installation standpoint. I have heard that installation prep is the key, I think from this forum! Thank you so much for your help.

Thank you. The reason why I say this is because of its as if we don't have windows. Cold drafts, you can hear the slightest noise. I realize windows are a huge investment which is why i am trying to do my due diligence. However as someone who is not familiar with the windows market, and frankly not handy at all its been a bit daunting. In regards to the 500 series, why is it a much better window? Are there any other manufacturers you would recommend one to look up and find installers for? Okna is a much better window than Window World and its superior in every way. Window World is made for the budget minded consumer. FYI- window world do not make their own windows, they are made by MI Windows and some may still be made by Alside both of which are not known for making good / quality windows. Why do homeowners sometimes choose Window World? Because they are cheap and they only care about cost and not quality. Okna on the other hand is known for quality, looks, and having some of the best efficiency numbers in the industry. The Okna 500 is a very good window, however if you could see the Okna 600 “ eco pro”, you would really like it.

The Provia Endure is decent. Its a fairly proven window chassis used by some other manufacturers, they are relatively new to making windows. I'd be careful not to confuse Provia's deservedly excellent reputation for entry doors with their windows, at least not at this point. The key with this option IMO will be getting a good installation. I'd try to get another quote or two from high performance vinyl choices like Softlite, Okna, Sunrise, Polaris to compare. I agree with WG to drop the other option. There are some things in life where going cheap may be okay, but a large investment in improving your home really isn't one.

Sunrise has been owned by Window World, along with Milford, for a few years. I believe the V4000 window that MI sells is actually the Sunrise v4000 series.

I don't know what the shift in owners has done to Sunrise windows, but that is what is being sold by MI. Most say MI sells construction grade windows. I can't figure out who sells who these days.

Two US auto manufacturers?

As Todd stated, Window World does not own Sunrise. WW uses MI products in some locations. The old Sunrise brand is no more, but those windows are now being sold under the MI brand umbrella. I have yet to hear of any WW locations selling the old Sunrise product, but who knows. I'd be surprised though if they did, as that is not an inexpensive product. Its still produced in the same factories with the same higher end quality and performance.... Whether that will continue for the long term is anyone's guess.
