Paint Remodeling Design Dilemma

Fascia/Soffit Color Suggestions

Looking for guidance on painting Fascia and Soffit moving away from this awful taupe color that’s been there 20 plus years. Attaching a current picture and a marked up photo.

Question - Is is ok to keep the flashing white and just paint fascia black and soffit white? Door will also be black. The current door is a french door so it won't be solid like pic.

It seems more involved to paint the aluminum flashing. We don’t want to paint the house as we may sell in a year or so.

Thanks for any suggestions.

I would NOT do a black fascia- too stripey especially with the white drip edge. What color is your siding- pale grey or blue? I would paint all the trim white which will make the siding pop a bit more (I assume its vinyl?) I would also remove the shutters since they aren't the right size but if it is vinyl it will be discolored... The front door could be anything but you can be more fun than black- orange, yellow, purple...

Thanks. The siding is vinyl and a muddy creme color- not our fav but not worth painiting at this point.

Shakes were the other thing we considered v/s the stacked stone for the entryway. In the end my wife and I both decided we liked the stacked stone look better. But it certainly would have been cheaper to go with the shakes. :) As of right now, the only thing ordered for the front is the door/sidelights/transom. We could possibly still change on mind on the stone.

I have a house with a silver roof and the fascia matches the body of the house, as do all of the houses in my neighborhood which ever stone or siding has been used (mostly Austin limestone). There is one house with a copper colored metal roof that really sticks out. I also have a striped fabric awning that I picked to match the silver in the roof, but it just looks gray which is what I think trying to match a silver roof would look like, bla gray.

I did not provide enough information and also my photos were not detailed enough to show that the actual (brand new) WINDOWS (from Window World) are NOT the same color as the old painted wood surrounding them. We think it will be impossible--and not look particularly good--to paint the wood to "match." They are a shade of beige, but it appears to have a slight undertone of green to it. We wanted to keep the shutters to add more color, but I get your point and appreciate your feedback!

It’s lap siding and new construction windows so no trim. I have been admiring Nordic houses lately so was thinking about all in one color. i just love that. the other side has a white porch roof and am screening in the porch and could do that in white so the white windows wouldn‘t be the only white. The teal is just a little brighter than i wanted but it’s what i could find. love the yellow door idea.

Paint the soffit and fascia the same color white as your windows. Eventually, when you sell, it will be easy to touch up, too.
