Help with tile orientation

Hello! I am building a house and need some advice on the best direction to lay tiles. I have seen some gorgeous tile look awful due to this mistake in pics online and hope to have good flow. I am doing all tiles in my house due to my allergies ( I LOVE wood, but it's not in the cards for me).

For everything except the bathrooms I am doing large (10x40) wood look tiles. Should you lay this vertical as you walk through the entry or horizontal? Does it change when you get to bedrooms and such being so large? My next question is the best transition to separate tile for bathrooms...

For master bath, I am doing a very design-heavy Calcutta (12x24). Would you lay this horizontal (looking into the bathroom) or vertical?

For the other two bathrooms, they are not large so I am doing a more subtle tile (12x24) because I think the design would make it look smaller/weird....would you lay this horizontally to make the room appear larger?

Am I overthinking the tile orientation ? Is there a rule of thumb? 😂

thank you!
