The photos you posted are really terrible quality. No one can see the color of your counters or backsplash much less your walls.

The cabinets look great. Why do you want to paint them?

Maybe consider a paint that matches the backsplash. Although I might consider changing the bulbs in your light fixtures first if you think the kitchen is too dark.

If you paint them here are two choices. A: Lightly sand to give it grip then apply a bonding primer, if not your paint will peel off. With this you don't need to remove the varnish. Then use a durable top coat. I've worked with Sherwin Williams Pro Classic as well with Emerald Urethane Trim Enamel. The latter hardens better. Using a soft bristle brush, mohair or foam roller for a smoother look. B: If you remove all varnish you can use an oil stain blocker. If not, stain will spot the surface overtime. Use two top coats. Sherwin Williams has a paint shortage of raw material. Certain products are available & limited because of the Texas freeze.

if you're not an experienced painter/DIY, I wouldn't attempt to do those cabinets yourself. you'll ruin them.

have you gotten any quotes from professional cabinet painters? (not house painters)

Your lighting is very yellow, so it's hard to give a color. plus, we can't really see the granite or the tile. give us closer shots with reliable coloring, not the yellow hue from your light bulbs.

why not change out the bulbs like mentioned above, and bring in some pulls/hardware? hardware makes all the difference in looks and helps to keep them clean. if you paint, you will for sure need handles.

you appear to have cooler glass tiles. what if you spent the money on switching out the granite to something white, and perhaps painting only the island?

the cost for painting all those cabs will prob be in the 5K region. you could get the new countertops/and the island painted for that price

I'd also remove those heavy, black counter chairs and get something lighter looking.
