I’d do a gallery wall! Here’s mine, with all art done by family members.

Family pictures are nice.
Wallpaper, wainscoting, paneling, molding are also great options

Can you show us the whole room from other angles? I love a gallery wall too but I wonder if you have--since most people do--a television that has to go some place. If it already is in the room, it would help us if we had knew what the entire room and its furnishings look like now, and if you plan any changes or not.

My first thought was to move both the tree and the baby to the center of the wall.

I would take away the tree and put a reading floor lamp there.. Will there be a TV on the unit opposite the chair eventually? If not, why not put that against the empty wall and another chair in the room?

Maybe you post more pictures of the entire room to show what other furniture is there. Maybe she only needs to rearrange what she’s got.

It depends entirely on what the other walls look like.

Is there a way you can post more photos of the room so we can see what the other walls look like? It might be that wall will look great with a large piece of artwork.

Here’s the rest of the living room. On the other side of the couch is just a wall of windows.

Eventually, she plans on building out shelves on either side of the tv. Her main concern is the big blank wall.

The additional photo helps. I'd use the large empty wall for large pieces of art. Two or three pieces that work together - vertical may be best. That way, the area around the TV can have smaller artwork or shelving and the room won't look too busy.
