If mine, I think I'd wait to hang it until I have any other pieces on hand. You'd mentioned stool, TP holder (and there are certainly some pretty ones available these days). You'll know what's most pleasing to the eye when you could see them together and how balanced it would feel in which position. I know, it's hard to wait when these projects are nearing their end. If you can't wait I might try centered, it would just be one picture hanging hole in that pretty wall that would be hidden behind the art if you did want to change it ;0)

It's considered Philadelphia School modernism, which is really a collective term. The historic designation means that significant exterior design changes must be approved, but if I understand correctly it does not prevent it from being demolished. I think the interior presented a series of museum-like spaces for antiques, art and traditional furniture. It was designed with servants' quarters, the original owner was a widow of the old school society matron type. I am honestly not sure what you could do to a series of white interior boxes to make them look "better". They present how they present and I don't think that anything could be done to conceal that they are big white boxes. You either like white boxes or you don't, and if you don't, this isn't the house for you, and that's fine. The current, or last, owner basically neglected the house and then completely abandoned it, leaving a flat tired Cadillac in the driveway. She apparently had other family obligations, and had no idea the house was deteriorating so badly was her excuse. No comment. The house does appear to be in good structural condition. There is however, a "teardown" in the general vicinity being sold at the same price, for the lot.
