I need help please. Petunia leaves turning Yellow.
Comments (9)Hi John, Well, I don't know if petunias can really be classified as "acid loving" or not. However, I do know that they are very sensitive to a high pH, which will cause the leaves to turn yellow. Regarding using reduced fertilizer dosages for our seedlings, we often see suggestions that recommend one fourth strength. The problem is that any recommended percentage may be weak for one fertilizer and still very strong for another. And, of course, one fourth strength probably isn't going to be right for all plants. If you're using Miracle-Gro Miracid (30-10-10) you might try one fourth strength, at least at first to green up those leaves. I'd use it with every watering but not more than once a week. Later on you could go back to using your regular fertilizer or maybe use the Miracid once a month just to make sure the petunias are not too low on iron. Keep in mind that I'm no expert and this is simply what I would probably try. Good luck with the petunias, hope they turn out beautiful! Comments (14)Thanks Dave... Yep, the guy who sold them to me when I bought them said "I think they're getting too much water, they need to get in the ground" So I bought them and took them home and put them in the ground. Then today he looked at the clippings and said "you haven't watered them since Saturday, you need to water them every other day and babysit them" Total contradiction.....It's apparent he has no clue, he's setting up a "blame the buyer" excuse to not honor the warranty. It fries my bacon....and yes, he seemed like an idiot. I'd rather trust you guys here who have dealt with Thuja Green Giants before. Is it possible that at my elevation (about 6500 ft.) that they could have plenty of water, but are being killed by the sun due to higher sun exposure rates due to altitude? Are they sensitive to that? (as in it's easier for a person go get a sunburn at high altitude) By the way, this particular nursery was the only one of 5 in my general area that even carried the Green Giants. Maybe that should tell me something....See MoreCrazy green/yellow tiled retro bath remodel - need help please!
Comments (25)All I can say is wow, thanks for all the ideas and help. So, the new window went in and it is taller, so my GC made sure to carefully remove and store the extra tiles for me. We'll see this weekend how many I have extra now. I thought I'd maybe send one to Chippy to see if they have a match in NJ. Also, I can use one for our re-glazer, if I need to still go that route. I have the pedestal sink in hand at the house, so for now we are good. I'll let you know how the tiles end up. Please keep sending the suggestions!!...See MorePlease Help! My Bamboo Plant is Turning Yellow
Comments (18)It is not a single plant. It is a series of dracaena cuttings bundled together to create an impression of a full, thick plant. Typically, most dracaenas - and certainly 'lucky bamboo' - grows as a bare single stem with a cluster of leaves at the top. Cutting them back and effectively cutting off all the leaves on an evergreen plant has seriously affected their ability to photosynthesize. And if that is coupled with a consistent lack of any fertilization, it is not surprising that some stalks are dying off. I'd consider myself lucky that the remaining stalks seem to have recovered from this radical treatment and are now pushing new leaf growth. The plant(s) is not dying....it just suffered a major setback. Tease loose the roots, separate out the yellow stalks and toss and then replant the green (no ties!). With proper care, it should be good for another 17 years!...See Morepiaa
