IN process of replastering and recouping the pool, cut out 10" of cement from the edge of the entire pool, completed the framing but was wondering if we need to use rebar to connect the new cement oping into the main pool deck or keep it separate, your thoughts and insight is highly welcomed. I love the pattern you've chosen. The white does look a bit creamy, but being outside, most white becomes off white (or off white/pewter) eventually, even with regular cleaning so they might work. It's hard to tell with the photos if it will blend or not. I like the idea of a white coping, simply because it will frame your design better and better delineate the edge of the area. If the slightly creamy white blends, I'd go for it. If it looks "dirty" compared to your white/pewter you may be best going with more white/pewter for coping.

I would think the grout should match the tile. What is in your contract as to grout color? Did your builder ask you to choose a grout when you chose your coping? I think a call to your pool builder is in order. That is not attractive.

We built a pool in Brooklyn about 7 years ago and the patio material was Travertine set in mortar, not dry laid. It is a honed/polished finish that does not have the cracks and fissures on the standard material. The coping was also travertine in 6' lengths 14" wide 2" thick. This too is honed. The color is a creamy light tan. We installed a SWG system and also an ozone system which we updated in the last 3 months. The newer ozone system will nearly eliminate the need for chlorine. This pool is 12'x30' about 14-15,0000 gallons. We have used quartzite before and it's a nice material even in direct sun. The color variations are nice. Bluestone will get very hot in the direct sun, Most dark colors tend to hold the heat as well. We have used limestone extensively and prefer it in a sunny location. The color ranges are nice and compliments other colors and materials, and it does not get hot in the sun. Tennessee crab stone is a nice looking stone but it does flake as it is soft.
