Dumb question about how to post photos.

I'd like to post a few things I've recently purchased on Amazon to the post about new items we've tried and recommend. If I post the Amazon link to an item I *think* my personal information is also displayed. How do you post only photos of an item? TIA :)

You can take a screen shot of the Amazon page, then edit the screen shot. crop out all identifying info. save the edited photo, copy it and paste it in your post.

there might be an easier way

I take screenshots and crop and mark out our private info. Houzz doesn’t like us directly linking to A-zon. ;)

Example … I cropped this and blacked out our name (on right):

Hi, Charlie, Good question. So many times, terms aren't defined. If you get these mounted plants, you've still got options, if they don't suit your style. I love lots of the plants people seem to sell mostly - or only - mounted, the Haraella being one. It bloomed fine, hanging out with other mounties in one of the clear glass vases, about 8"x 8" each, with stones and a bit of water in the bottom. It's the one on the left: However, it was one of almost 20 mounties that needed misting/soaking daily. If I weren't such an underwaterer, it'd be multiple times: They're always dry 24 hours later, inside or outside, unless it's raining or super humid and cloudy out. When the mounties are in the house, most are taken from vases and sprayed over a big pot, one at a time, then put back. The mounties that don't fit in a big vase are taken to the shower, sprayed, left to drip for awhile, and then taken back to the orchid room. Outside, each is moved and watered separately. Every.Single.Day ... whether I'm tired, down with a bug, out late, have a sick pet, family member in the hospital, buddy in a jam. With the potted orchids, I can close the shades, turn off the lights, and leave them for at least 7 days, if need be. I started resenting the mounties. One of the old hands who used to post here said no orchid had to be mounted. Dunno if they were excluding the Ghost, but I've unmounted almost all the mounties now, including the Haraella, Aerangis fastuosa, Aerangis biloba, Dendrobium ceraula, Dinema polybulbon, Encyclia bracteata, Leptotes bicolor, Ornithocephalus bicornis, Phal. lowii, and Phal. parishii. Others, the grower unmounted and potted before I brought them home. Almost all the Sedireas I've seen were potted. As many mounties as possible have gone into sphag & plastic because they dry more slowly; 2nd preference is bark w/ sphag; last is straight bark. The plants in straight bark have to be watered every other day. It's a relief to be free of the every-day-or-else demands. It's been a month since the Haraella went from mounted to potted in sphag. It could be too soon to know if it'll be okay, but it didn't lose either of the 2 flowers, and buds on all 3 spikes are still developing. You'll figure out what works for you - the orchids will teach you. :) Whitecat8

Dumb question about harvesting mixed greens

Posts show up after you RELOAD OR REFRESH the pages. Usually (internet browser dependent) you see a different color text for threads that have new messages posted vs. older threads with no new posts. If you post a new message, you have to click on the PREVIEW and tghen SUBMIT MESSAGE to get it to SAVE to the forum. Once there, you simply go back to the main thread page and REFRESH. It should show new posts in any threads. To find old posts, doing simple searches on a couple of key words is best. For instance if you wanted to see things about harvesting greens, you would type in the search window the words 'harvest greens', and it should bring up threads with that text in them. I grew just 'gourmet salad greens' last summer. I planted twice, the first ones planted the end of May lasted until August. By then some of them were sending up flower and seed stalks which I pluck off. I planted a small amount of seeds again in mid August and had more greens, mostly bib, red leaf, and several other gourmet type greens. All made a great salad. I do not spray anything and not much was chewed or damaged. I picked so much I was gving away many 2 gallon bags packed tightly with them. I would not use any cutters, but instead snap off the tender leaves near their bases. The leaves were rinsed off and placed in small batches into a salad spinner to get excess water off them. They remained quite crisp for nearly 4 days in the fridge if bagged. I only pick the larger leaves of most. A few days, and new leaves show up and the previously smaller ones are now bigger and are picked. Depending on the type of greens, you should be able to pick almost every other day once they start to come in. I had about 20 locations where I put in several different kinds of seeds in the same spots, so each location had a nice selection to choose from. All matured quite well together.

thepeppermintleaf, if you're not using a Mac, you can choose the "direct html" link in your photobucket account, and paste that URL in the bottom line that appears when you click on the "Photo" icon below the text box. After a few seconds (slight delay) the photo will appear in your post. You have to use the Photo icon; just copying and pasting the direct link into your post won't result in an image showing up. But the above workaround apparently doesn't work for folks with Macs. Apparently the link to your photo added this way cannot be broken at a later date (as we could on GardenWeb.) So if you add a photo it will remain here permanently, as far as I know.

You can also just open an incognito/private window and find the product on amazon and post from that page. It won't have any personal info.

If you want to post a pic only off Amazon, put cursor over image > right click Save Images As, put it wherever you save things--for me it's Pictures, and then post on here from there

FWIW, I often do an image search (Google Image) and drag the photo I want to my desktop, then upload it from there. I don't keep the images, once I'm done. You could also post a link to the merchandise page, if you wanted to share that info.

I agree it can make a difference which platform/device you're using.

There are times when I just take a photo with my iPhone - it automatically goes to my Mac and then I post it using the Photo option underneath this message.

I wonder if anyone is having problems uploading photos to Houzz after getting a new iphone? I am. Any photo taken with the new iphone won't upload here. I wonder if it's only me. Dd tells me it's because the new iphone takes a complicated (?) photo and it's too much for a platform like Houzz.

I was thinking the problem was posting a page from amazon without her personal info, not a problem posting photos (but that does seem to be a big problem, too).

Sea Sea - are your photos JPG format or HEIC?

I've had iPhones for 8 years and my photos were always saved in a JPG format . Then in one of their updates Apple switched from JPG to HEIC - which was some kind of High Efficiency Image File format. Initially I didn't have any problems with sharing them or uploading them. But last summer several people told me that they couldn't open my photos.

So I went into my phone settings and switched back to JPG - that solved my problems. And when I got my iPhone 12 Pro I made sure the photos were saved in JPG.

Except I now have 3 years of photos in the HEIC format - and I need to figure out an easy way to convert them.

Graywings, no I see none of your personal info when I click on your link. I posted an Amazon item link here fairly recently, though, and it was pointed out that my personal info was displayed.

Oakley, I ordered some for me and my DD. We love them. Ida ordered some, too.

Mine are on a cedar post on the back patio. I’m very impressed with the quality..
