Now 8 months old since bud expansion/growth
Have cicadas been much of a problem for you? I hear about them on the news but have yet to see one.
This tree has 3 batches of Cicada slits. I oiled and soaped the slits to kill the eggs. I don't know it that will work.
How many trees do you have?

I think once the slits are made, the damage is done. I don't think killing the larvae does anything. but I may be wrong. I guess it can't hurt. They're horrible here in Northern VA.
Move out west, cicada free.
The cicadas are just beginning to do damage. I am hoping that the majority of the damage is caused by the growing nymphs and I can kill them before they hatch.
I wrapped a small trunk in hard plastid grocery bags to prevent cicada drilling.
Even so, 1 hole got drilled but no slit.
