Strait lover, that was me. The tile arrived in a much lighter color than expected but I decided to keep it. The tile is unique and very pretty and I wanted something with an opalescent to it and this has some pieces that are so it won't be too much. I was upset it's not as saturated with color as I expected, but everyone who sees it in person and does not have the original,sample to compare it to like I did loved it. I know it's hard to know by photos, but this tile actually looks gorgeous with that granite I posted pics of. The gray in the granite is cool and that tan gives it just a touch of warmth so it's not so cold looking with the white cabinets. I'm not sold on it yet, but in person it really is nice together.

Hi Jeri, I am in the tail end of a mini remodel of my kitchen. Nothing fancy really, just counters, kept the cabs but rearranged a tiny bit, new appliances and details. Still working on the details. Lighting, molding... Looking at a modernaire hood but worried about the expense. I try to list each photo source next to the photo I post. I use magazine, web sites, blogs... Thanks for asking. Prill, I agree the beadboard and tile are really neat. It would not work in my house but I love the idea. ~boxerpups

1. I would NOT end it where the upper cabinet ends. Defintely has to go to the end of the wall from the first pictures view. I'd probably also do it all about an inch above the bottom of the upper cabinets. Options 2 or 3 are the tough one. Part of me says wrap it around but the light switch definitely causes a littl of an issue where to stop it. My vote, based on this pic I found, is not to wrap it around. Misty-I have ubatuba (there is another uba tuba thread going) and I love the slate with it...likely because that is what I did and I really like that earthy texture. We did a kitchen facelift before getting ready to put our house for sale (not quite there yet but at least the kitchen is updated) also. So out of EAM's posts I like the bottom one from 1:09 and in your last one from 20:08 I like the little squares that are by the orange tape. I think it would play off of your floors but not be too matchy matchy. That said you have a very nice kitchen and I think the neutral/glass that you are gravitating too will look really nice also. I thought it might be helpful to give you an idea of what those slate tiles would look like in more than just a sample strip. At least give you a "no way" or "maybe" feeling. You look like you have a lot of natural light so the space wouldn't be overly dark. My slate seems a bit darker than the samples you posted and my cabs are not exact either but in general its close enough to get a feel. Hope it's helpful.
