Level off the grass area and put in some drainage. then give yourself new sod or how about some cement pavers?

You need a simple wood gate for space next to the porch, high enough to block the view of the storage space inside. It could have a curved top. Paint it white and give it black latch and black hinges.

You are lucky to have a nice tree and it is worth it to call a tree specialist to come give a look to see if needs help with pruning and if it is getting enough water. Sometime a lawn can get compacted soil, and the tree roots don’t get enough water. Don’t neglect doing that or make it the last thing rather than the first thing you do. You don’t want to lose that tree!

Your actual entry way is more work and might also eventually need a pro. The problem is that everyone who uses your driveway is going to tromp up your lawn because you need a walkway there. Plus, the steps to your porch and what’s right at your front door need to be made level and unified. When that is finished, then I think it is time to revive your lawn.

Pick a new color for the door, (not painted the same color as your garage door, which needs that window repaired). Take al the shutters off your house.

Then bring in the flowers!

A gate as simple as this would be fine.

Does someone park on your lawn? If you need additional parking, gravel that area.

It’s not an eye sore!! At all!!
But there are some ideas I think may help you love it more...
I’d remove the shutters on the double windows. They don’t really belong. ( they’re not horrible. I’m just a tad ocd)

Focus on some landscaping

We needed to park on the lawn during the winter due to winter parking bans on the street. The gate idea is a fantastic idea cause that is a garbage storage shed, and the spot we hide the kids bikes and stuff.

What are the prospects for parking in the garage?

Challenging. But possible. It’s a tight fit and what we have done for the last few yrs in the home, but with kids in the young phas it’s absorbed some space. We figure out a place to put it though.

And I absolutely love the black door superimposed-thanks Beth!!! Should I do the shutter and garage door black too- or is that too much? It’s a townhouse in a row of 6 or 8 I believe. I haven’t decided if I want it to stand out or blend in..... like do I update both lights and not match the other houses or just the one at the door? What are the rules here?

another color you may want to try is Urbane Bronze or Iron Ore.

they have a bit more brown tone to them so it might work w/the brick color and siding a bit better. grab a few samples. They're SW colors. their samples are about $10. but a better option is to go to home depot, use they're little samples pots ($3) and have them color match the SW colors. just tell them the name and they'll punch it in the computer. The colors won't be exact to SW, but it will be close enough. and if you like the way it looks, just use the Behr paint.

get some concrete pavers and set them into the ground up to your porch. set them along side the driveway. you could plant your grass around them, or just do something like the large gravel. looks neat if you have to park the car there.

and, if you ever think about painting the siding, the darker color looks nice

if you build one of these, try a neutral paint color (like the anonymous or smokehouse color) so that it blends w/the brick rather than sticks out

If those are Christmas lights, take them down! get some dirt and patch plus fertilize your grass....

I like the current blue, but I would paint the white frames around the windows on the door and the garage the same blue. Take down the shutters. Add the gate. You're good to go.

I think “blending in” with choices for paint tones and even identical architectural items like garage doors can look very nice for both your house and the whole neighborhood’s resale values, but that doesn’t exclude the opportunity to show individual personality with porch lights, mailboxes or a walkway. And it doesn’t exclude using a different color from your next door neighbors, but I think it’s good to do colors that complement the overall scene. If most houses on your street have pastel colors, I’d stay in that range. But if what others have been doing navy or sharp reds, whites and black, your pastels could end up not looking not-quite-right in that setting.

Your tree roots might have had a tough time over the winter. If you live someplace with very hot summers, make sure your home’s tree isn’t getting more stressed and has what it needs.

There’s nothing unappealing about your door. It’s the trash/storage area that looks off. I’d do something like this, fencing it in and adding a gentle landing pad.
