Shower Floor Tiles Self-Destructing?

Good day all. Approximately seven years ago the previous owner of our home remodelled the master bathroom and installed new tile. Two (and only two?) of the floor tiles are spontaneously falling apart. The glaze on them is mostly gone and the actual structure of the tile is crumbling. These tiles are in the least used portion of the L-shaped shower stall, they almost never get wet.

Is there some sealant I can apply to halt the damage? As you can see from the photos

, it's not ugly, it's discernable only if you're looking for it. We'd be content to paint some kind of polyurethane or similar product to stop the damage, if that would work. We're careful to apply sealant (now that we're aware) to the rest of the shower stall, but we really want to avoid any further damage.

BTW, while some of the unaffected flooring looks similar to the problem area, these two small tiles are the only ones that absorb water rather than beading.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
