Any suggestions on the furniture & furniture arrangement?

Previous owners items. We're getting new furniture to move in. I'm not changing the paint or curtains now. Thank you

If you don't plan on updating the window treatments just yet, I would take down the swags. They are too small for that nice window.

The previous owner's big mistake was pushing all the furniture against the walls, it makes the space look like a waiting room.

It appears that you have space for two seating areas. I'd consider switching the TV to the corner between the windows or the wall opposite the window and make that the TV area. Then add a small seating area near the fireplace. I'd define the two spots with appropriately sized rugs.

If you could provide a simple floor plan, that may help you get more suggestions.

Many sofas placed there and I think 1-2 sofa should be remove from there to make some place empty. Overall all things looking fantastic and no need to change color at all.

Ok. So I have moved the sofas acros from one another the chair to the left corner and the sofa table behind it. It does not look bad! We are going to look for a new TV soon. Slateberry: My husband is not a non-feeling guy. He just gets a little attached to items and he is putting me through some very expensive schooling right and we are not taking out any loans and we qualify for zero aide. So while we are not poor by any means. My tuition comes directly from our family finances and we are the type of family that does not take on any debt or finance anything or take money from savings. We also have two children in private school ;) So he's just responsible and attached to big bertha the giant tube as I like to call her. She was also our first purchase as a married couple. He is sentimental. What can I say. ;) The man still has the first letter I wrote him in High school!!! Ha! How bad is it that in this entire ordeal I decided I wanted brown diamond print slipcovers for fall? Is that bad??? You guys are so great! As I said in my other thread. I am hours away from My parents and don't have anyone to bounce anything off of and I really appreciate all of your help. I get a little melancholy and bored and move furniture around and hate it and then don't know what to do or who to ask. So I really appreciate it all more than you know!

According to what I see in the picture, you have great taste but the room needs help. I would start off by pulling the couch off the wall and placing it's so it's in between the door and the window. Then the chair could go in between the couch and media center. In the middle of that sort of conversation area put a coffee table with some decorative coasters and a small plant. Then, add some throw pillows and curtains ( make sure they go up to the ceiling and touch the floor for the illusion of height). In the corner a blanket basket or a tall plant would be a nice touch to the room. Then on the wall where your couch currently is, get a sideboard and dress it up with two matching tall lamps on both sides. Over top of that either make a gallery wall or one large piece of art. In the corner where your chair is near place another tall plant or vase. Make sure you have a nice matching color palette while buying decor and furniture. I hope this helped you and good luck :)

I like Jck910 ideas. I used barn door hangers to change French doors to a slider once. I'd like to add to those ideas. You could use an art tv so when it's not in use you have a nice picture to look at. Another idea would be to hang an art tv beside your french doors and have a longer couch along the window wall with a couple of smaller chairs across from it. Can one of the French doors be stationary most of the time?

Their rug was too small for the way it's being used. As stated above it could be used to delineate a second seating area. How will you use the space? If TV viewing is the focal then orientate it away from the fireplace. I see no decent way for a TV to compete with that fireplace. The one pic is horrid, makes the TV looks LARGER than it is. The swags have to go. I love a curtain panel so see leaving them...but most are sticking to the cold, sterile just blinds look if you want to be 'up to date'. It sort of looks to me like the back half was designed to be a dining room. Do you need that? A games table would be super fun if this is more of a casual living space. It really appears two couples lived here. The first decorated a space then the TV/movie watchers/gamers moved in with their theatre seating. The room is rather schizophrenic.

What a beautiful space!! Will you do a quick floor plan showing the fireplace, windows, and doors/openings? And please let us know how you plan on using it. Actually, if you feel creative, a rough floorplan of the whole floor could be useful too. With the size of the room, the big window and the fireplace, a tv room may not be the best use.
