Hi Buehl, Thanks so much! I hadn't seen that link before. Unfortunately, I do not have access to a scanner, so I had to take a picture of old plans. It doesnt look great, but hope it helps. I tried adding a few lines of text to label things. The kitchen is 16' 7" x 14' 11". The kitchen opens to a dining/hearth room with fireplace. That space also bleeds into a large great room. Down the "hall", the GR is on left and office on right. Past the office is the front door, stairs down to lower level, and then finally the master area. I am open to ANY suggestions. This is planned as the "forever home" and I want to get it right. It is just me and my husband, with our adult daughter visiting occasionally. We may have a few family members come for family gatherings at times. Mostly, it is just me in the kitchen. The "prep sink" is mostly so my husband can get water, fill the coffee pot or rinse a glass without getting in my way (this happens often lol) and I also liked that it was fairly close to the range, in case I need water for cooking or to use a strainer. Im not worried at all about traffic. My big thing is wanting to fit the 48" bluestar, but also keep my 30" deep drawers flanking it on both sides (for my heavy pots, etc). I also want to be sure I have drawers for cooking utensils, knives, eating utensils, etc well planned and near cooking area. I really am considering removing blind corner pull outs and putting in just drawers for these items. Please see the layout pictures at the beginning of my post for the most recent cabs & layout. Thank you everyone for your comments and suggestions. - I love the suggestion about switching the rooms, but my husband is set on this floor plan the way it is. The fireplace is a 360 fireplace and will be used for both rooms. - The front door and not having a foyer is something that I keep going back to, I think that's just one of those things we might do without. We do not plan on using the front door, we will be entering from the garage. We will hang everyday coats in the mudroom and we can utilize the closet in the office...hopefully this will work out. -We really do not want to lose the pantry, we actually added that. - I love your idea about putting the double wall oven where at the end of the wall (by pantry) and the first on the end of the other wall, that's a great location! thank you! -I know the other layout was hard to read, here is another one. We are familiar with ranges that have 2 ovens, my mother-in-law has one which she loves. If we do not do wall ovens we will do a double range. I just love the wall ovens though. Thanks again for all of your suggestions, I really appreciate it!

All of this is reflective of my personal likes and dislikes. You could build the kitchen as described above and like using it just fine. I would likely move either the ref or the ovens onto the range run. My preference would be the refrigerator and put it up near the in-law suite entrance so it was more accessible to the breakfast area because I'd use that as my everyday dining space. It's easy to reach for cooking too. I'd be left with the ovens and the pantry on the wall between the stairs and the mud room. Again, personally, I might change that a bit - move the ovens to be away from the mudroom door and maybe a larger pantry - or maybe pantry on one side, ovens and a small counter on the other and a small window. *Edited* to add that moving the ref or ovens away from each other will stop the doors of both appliances from running into each other. It's possible when the ref has a door that opens towards the oven when an oven door is open. I would cut down the aisle size between the island and the pantry - does it say 6'3"? I'd make that 4' or 4'6" instead and make the island longer. I think that starting from the pantry side, I'd do 24" dishwasher, 33" sink, 18" trash, and then rest of island. It would gang up the prep space towards the new ref location. If you wanted, you could do a hand sink that doubled as an entertainment bar on the side of the island facing the family room in the corner closest to the breakfast area. A different, but equally good thing would be to do clean up on the outside of the long direction, also storing the dishes in drawers on that side. Then add a prep sink on the "cooking" side of the island. This would let children (or my spouse) help with setup, cleanup without getting in the main cook's way. Either way lets you keep an eye on what additional hands may be doing when they are helping do preparation. I wouldn't worry a whole lot about symmetry. It works well to have a pleasant layout that is balanced with the rest of the room. For the cooktop run as I've described, I'd do the ref right up against the inlaw suite entrance, then leave about 3 feet, allow 3 feet for a cooktop instead of 30", then just fit in what I could for the rest. I would be tempted to do the english thing of lining up all of the electrical gizmos on that counter, all plugged in and ready to go. Also, I have never walked into to somebody's house and thought their kitchen would be perfect if only they had centered the cooktop.

I agree the open shelving is just bad especially around a range , the swap of the fridge and pantry is not a bad idea, a prep sink in the island will save many steps each day. All the base cabinets should be drawers even in the island and make sure the walkway in front of the range is at least 48” and also in front of the fridge. I would remove the shelves and get some fun art for either side of the range hood for a bit of fun.
