Phrase of the day 5/9

Everyone to his own taste

This phrase “Everyone to his own taste, as the farmer said when he kissed the cow” is a variation on an English folk saying that goes back at least to the mid 1500s. The version then current went like this: “Every man as he loveth, quoth the good man, whan he kyst his coowe.” A similar notion is contained in the well-known French proverb “Chacun à son gout” – “Everyone to his own taste.”
