Best mix for potted azaleas?

Hello folks,
Urban dweller here with no space for in ground planting. I have been having trouble maintaining acidity in my containers and was hoping somebody would have some insight into best practices. The mix I am using currently is:
8 parts compost
8 parts pine bark
1 part vermiculite
1/4 part holly tone
For around a month after planting, the pH is pretty good at 5.5. I add more holly tone every 6 months and water every other week with miracle grow azalea and rhodo fertilizer (30-10-10).
After a few months the pH climbs and if I don't regularly apply a sulfur acidifier, I will get bad chlorosis on my azaleas.
The containers are all clay with glaze on the outside.
Cheers,
Werner
