You have lit up your living room like a kitchen (or surgery room). Is there a need for any of them? You show floor/table lamps, and that is usually the mood and height of light that is comfortable for the typical purpose of a living room. But a hot spot on a bald head sitting on the couch might be preferable to you.

Maybe a couple gimbals over the FP. Maybe a couple along the left and right accenting the walls. Maybe a couple along the original unobstructed circulation path from the slider (and acting as task light for the sofa desk since there probably is no floor receptacle).

Our living room ceiling has that many and it’s totally overkill. Take out at least half.

And make sure they're on dimmers!

My living room is about 17' x 14' with a corner cut out for a fireplace. I have five 4" recessed lights with PAR 20 50-watt equivalent LED bulbs. Absent the fireplace I would have installed six which would have been plenty.

I rarely use my recessed lighting in the living room. There are four of them and they're more towards the middle of the room. I read a designer story on houzz that said they are best placed along the outter edges of the room close to the walls. Reason being they flood the walls and it makes for a warmer lighting. There were pictures showing how nice they look on when positioned that way but I didn't save the story and now I can't find it. I wish I had seen it before we did our electrical. Definitely put them on dimmers .

I think you could put a floor lamp(below picture) near the sofa or on the corner.

All the articles I've read from designers say to use 2700K bulbs for warm light. Maybe 3000k if you want to push it. A couple of years ago I swapped out our old can lights with these new LED ones. So the recessed lights and all lamp bulbs in our house are 2700k; to me, it looks weird to have different colors of lighting in the same room.

If you are using Edison-socket housings, purchase 2700K LED lamps (bulbs). That color is the warmest and representative of incandescent light. If you want it cooler (bluer) looking, then you can exchange them for 3000K and so on.

If you use LED lumenaires (housing/trim/transformer/LED all in one) it is nice to find the color selectable units, then you have opportunity to change it.

BTW, I disliked my kitchen pot lights so I put instant pendant lights instead. You just take out the pot light bulbs and screw in the pendant. You can adjust the height too. Mine were on sale for $30 each.

Love the pendant lights, were did you find them? I'm in the midst of a remodel and am looking for kitchen lighting.

EM Parkhurst just google "instant" pendant lights. The word instant must be in the description. Make sure it shows the canopy that covers the pot light opening. Worth Home Products, Home Depot, Amazon and they have some here on Houzz too.
