Vanity Size Help
Comments (3)I would keep the vanity flush to the wall so you could get as much drawer space as possible. The 42" would give you a little more room around the toilet. If you did use a 36" free-standing, the 12" between it and the wall is adequate imo, and the minimum. But 36" vanities have one 12" drawer stack. The interior of my drawers is only 9". The only way I'd use a 36" vanity is if it's a style that has full drawers and no sink base. Ikea makes them with two deep drawers but I don't know if they come in 36". I do love that look. If you're keeping the recessed medicine cabinet, you really only need deep drawers. They're nice for towels when you don't have a linen closet....See MoreBathroom vanity size/placement help!
Comments (3)Leaving a six-inch space between the right side of the vanity and the wall would, indeed, be a waste of space, not to mention the fact that it would make it difficult to re-paint or paper that wall down the road. Couple questions: Is your shower staying within the same footprint? What’s underneath this bathroom—i.e., do you have easy access to the plumbing lines? If so, in addition to reducing the size of the vanity, you might want to move the toilet over to the right six inches or so. How long is that wall? Starting at the right wall moving left, if you allocate 36” for the vanity and another 30” - 36” (the more space you can spare the better!) for the toilet, how much space is left for the shower? Here are some diagrams you might find helpful:...See MoreHelp! Mirror/sconce size & placement on 9ft vanity, wall mount faucet
Comments (5)The important distance to consider is the distance between the center of the vanity to the center of one sink. That distance never changes regardless of the size of the mirror. The wider the mirror, the less distance you have between the sconce and the mirror. If my calculation is right based on the measurements you gave, that distance is 21" (please confirm it as I don't explicitly see it on the measurements you gave us). The distance between the edge of the sconce and the edge of the 24" mirror is 6.25". This number came from that calculation: 21" -2.75" (half the width of the sconce) - 12 (half the width of a 24" wide mirror) = 6.25". Now if you use a 36" mirror, the distance between the edge of the sconce to the edge of the mirror would be .25" ( 21" - 2.75 - 18"). You don't want a quarter in. wall between the sconce and the mirror. If you were to find a 28" wide mirror, that distance would be 4.25" ( 21" - 2.75 - 14"). I think the width of the sconce is more in proportion with a 24" mirror. I also think a 24" mirror looks nicer with a 27.5 wide cabinet below it....See Morevanity help on size
Comments (4)Not at all! 36" is the recommended width, while 30" is the minimum to meet code. http://starcraftcustombuilders.com/bath.design.rules.htm...See MoreGinger P.
