Need help with paint color for Spanish Home
Comments (78)Haha! I have just done many homes so know what products and companies fit into styles and hopefully can lock into client’s goals. Love helping folks get their dream even when they aren’t sure of what they want. So fun! I will post source of the outside lighting. You will have to verify sizing. But I would go big out there. The exterior light is really pretty in person because of the glass used. Of course, the other is from one of my favorite lighting companies....See MoreExterior redesign for a small spanish house
Comments (14)I absolutely loved the idea of extending the roof all the way to the right. That will fill the void there and make a big difference. My windows are vinyl-clad Andersen windows from 2004. They are in excellent shape. I don't know how well they can take paint. They are grey. Hence the rest of the grey on the exterior. I can't justify replacing them either. They're also inset windows which mean there is little wood being exposed on the exterior. I will change the dark color screens to brighten it up a little bit. Another issue is the roof. Because I have solar up on the roof, it is a bit tricky to change it to tiles. Plus, I have to make sure that the house tolerates the tile roof. it sits on a raised foundation on a small canyon. Although the foundation is rebuilt and very solid now, I am not sure if it can tolerate the additional weight of a tiled roof. The stairs will be tiled with traditional decorative tiles we see commonly in our neighborhood. I guess I have to now find the color palette that goes with the grey window frames. Thank you, thank you!! You've all been very generous....See MoreSpanish colonial home needing lots of work...where to start?
Comments (14)Let's see if I can revive this old thread. Finally getting some exterior work done next month. To start, i'm removing the 2nd floor awnings completely as I'm upgrading those windows to Milgard Tuscany casement windows in bronze color. I've decided to stick with the awning over front door - I'm not in a place to put something more permanent and the shade it provides is useful. I plan to choose a color thats similar to the terra cotta roof tiles. Lastly I want to repaint both the maroonish front door and steps. I'm thinking of matching the door with color of new Milgard windows but I don't know how to match the color. I found a thread here where a Milgard rep provided a color match for Benjamin Moore but I want to go with a better paint. Any ideas on how to best achieve this? I think I'll repaint the steps either gray, tan, or lighter red clay color. Landscaping will probably stay as-is for now. Would love to get this communities thoughts! Things I most would like get are feedback on are paint and awning colors I've mentioned and ideas on how I'll color match the Milgard vinyl bronze window...See MorePlease help with my small colonial exterior.
Comments (13)I am truly thankful for the ideas and suggestions. Decisions, decisions, decisions. @houssaon If I go with the charcoal roof, what color door would look best? Would it look disproportionate if the posts go on to the walkway since I don’t believe the top step is structurally sound to place the post. I may be wrong! @decoenthusiaste I like the look of the extended roof, since it will be unique to other homes in the neighborhood. My concern though is would I not have to extend the stair into a front porch to give it that balance? Could someone please share their thoughts on how I can layer the house, maybe adding trim or planters, window plant boxes, etc. anything that would give the house character/charm. Thank you all! Please keep the ideas coming....See MoreMarylee H
